Sports, Internet, Multiplayer, For 2 Players, Handball, Splitscreen, Singleplayer.
Another edition of the most popular game series devoted to handball, developed by Bigben Interactive in cooperation with EKO Software. Mechanics-wise, Handball 17 does not deviate significantly from its predecessor. The developer didn’t bother with management and other non-sports elements and focused on the gameplay itself, putting emphasis on the incredibly important tactical layer. In the game, we can lead one of 82 licensed teams of the leading European handball leagues (e.g. French, German, or Spanish) to victory. Compared to the previous installment of the series, the production is characterized by visibly enhanced artificial intelligence which manifests both in the behavior of our rivals and our own players. Apart from that, the developers significantly revamped the controls and made them much more user-friendly for beginners thanks to numerous tutorials and hint systems.

A simplified version of yet another edition of the most popular football manager simulation game by Sports Interactive, and a title half-way between Football Manager 2017 and its mobile edition, Football Manager Mobile 2017. In the game, we assume the role of a manager of one of more than 2,5 thousand football clubs from over 100 different leagues, trying to provide our team with both sports and financial successes. Football Manager Touch 2017 follows the path set by its predecessor and offers a much faster gameplay than that of the major installments of the series, at the same time being more complex than the mobile version. Such effect was achieved thanks to abandoning many business aspects of the gameplay and focusing mainly on transfers and match tactics. Compared to its predecessor, the new edition is characterized by a number of enhancements in graphics and mechanics as well as the previously unavailable multiplayer mode.

Another story expansion for the incredibly popular free-to-play CCG, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft by Blizzard Entertainment. The plot of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan is focused on gang wars that occur in the eponymous Gadgetzan which turned into a metropolis teeming with life thanks to rapidly-developing trade. The city’s development, apart from merchants, also brought hordes of thugs to its streets. After numerous battles between the local crime families, only the strongest three remain. The gameplay is somewhat different than what the vanilla game and the previous DLCs got us used to. The developers introduced new cards that can be used not by one but by three different classes. Moreover, there are three completely new factions (Grimy Goons, Jade Lotus, Kabal), each offering three hero classes.

The new hero has power over a special type of magic, drawn from the power of death, while his battle abilities are based on blood and bone – a Necromancer can resurrect corpses. Additionally, we can make use of the spectacular Corpse Explosion, the ranged Bone Spear, or even Siphon Blood from our enemies. The new addition receives dedicated legendary item sets, and an exclusive in-game pet. Aside from that, Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer introduces two more additional character slots, a new portrait frame, a pennant, a banner, and a unique banner sigil. Noblemen: 1896 is set in an alternative version of the late 19th century, combining steampunk themes with elements based on World War I and the American Civil War. The game does not feature a typical story campaign; you lead one of the factions during a great conflict. In terms of mechanics, there are two aspects of the gameplay. The first aspect is a strategic one, in which you train your armies, move them around the map, manage your resources, and conquer more areas. The mode is additionally varied by collecting and using special cards. When two armies meet, the game switches into battle mode, combining the elements of shooter games and RTS, and you control one of the soldiers, using a wide range of firearms.

A warfare-oriented strategy created by Blowfish Studios, notable for the warmly-received Gunscape. Siegecraft Commander takes us to a fantasy universe, fought iver by Knights of Freemoi and tribes of Lizardmen. The game offers a single player campaign, allowing the player to control both factions. In this case, the game is similar to a traditional real-time strategy. For a change, the multiplayer mode allows us to choose between real-time gameplay and a turn-based one. The battles were inspired by tower defense genre, with the players conquering more and more territory until they clash. There is a catch, though – each tower has to have a direct link to the center, and if the chain is broken, every subsequent link is destroyed. In order to win, every player has to build complicated installations, able to sustain heavy losses and remain functional. Siegecraft Commander employs a light-hearted, slightly cartoonish visual style.

Although Rusty Lake: Roots features many references to previous works of the studio, we don’t need knowledge of them to understand the plot. The gameplay is based on exploration of our surroundings and solving logic and environmental puzzles. Moreover, talking with non-player characters is also an important aspect of the game. The on-screen events, the characters, and puzzles alike have a surreal, even dark feel to them. The atmosphere is emphasized by two-dimensional graphics and matching music.

The Hacker 2.0 is a sequel to the 2012 The Hacker. Both games were developed by Angry Bugs. The game takes place in a not so distant future and has a retro-futuristic feel to it, inspired by the 80’s film and book representation of cyberpunk. We play as a hacker who has to break into well-protected computer systems in order to gather top secret data and sabotage them. The game has two primary aspects of gameplay. Missions themselves are presented in the form of a turn-based tactical game. The virtual reality, around which our avatar moves, and the models of the security software intended to stop us are observed from an isometric point of view. We use various offensive, defensive, and special abilities when facing that software. We spend the time between our missions in front of a virtual desktop. The screen of our device serves as a monitor of our in-game computer with its simple operating system, icons, and useful apps. We use them to contact our clients, start missions, gather useful data, manage our income, and to invest and buy better software and hardware.

Action, Horror, Action Adventure, Singleplayer, Survival Horror, TPP.
A third-person perspective survival horror inspired by console productions of this genre. The action of From Beneath takes place in a town called Cedar Heights, which mysteriously turns into a living hell. The campaign tells a story of seven independent characters who have to fight for their survival. Mechanically, From Beneath is an action-adventure game with the camera hanging behind the character’s back. Each hero is different, but none of them was born a warrior. Therefore, battles pose a significant challenge and each bullet is precious. Usually, it is best to simply sneak behind enemies’ backs, stay in the shadows, and distract opponents in numerous ways. Gameplay is complemented by logic puzzles. The narration depends on the hero you are in control of – the title does not allow switching between the characters. From Beneath offers large locations, decent 3D visuals, and a professional voiceover.

Puzzle, Puzzle Elements, FPP, PlayStation VR, Science Fiction, Singleplayer, PlayStation Exclusive, VR.
Developed by Tarsier Studios, Statik is a logic puzzle game, which utilizes functionalities offered by PlayStation VR. The game takes players to a mysterious laboratory in which scientists conduct secret experiments to discover the full potential of the human brain. The story begins when the main protagonist wakes up in a hospital bed with his hands trapped in a small device; without seeing his fingers, one cannot say what is inside the electronic box, which perfectly represents how the player feels – with the PlayStation VR headgear on, he cannot see his hands either. All the puzzles in the game build on an interesting mechanic – since a puzzle solution is a mystery, no one knows which button on the controller to press at a given moment. These puzzles are based on player’s intuition and perceptivity, as well as the ability to manipulate the elements of the environment. The pattern of subsequent solutions reflects the process of the player familiarizing themselves with the construction of subsequent devices, which changes with each new puzzle. In the game, the player is accompanied by a doctor, who follows our actions and comments on them, often in a humorous way.

The gameplay consists of dynamic and spectacular pursuits, and you can now use previously unavailable gadgets and abilities. The policemen can use electromagnetic charges and call for air support, while the other participants use flash grenades and infinite nitro. Moreover, The Crew: Calling All Units adds new vehicles, which you can mod to make them into police cars. Curiously, you can choose the police side in the base game too, but to drive a police vehicle, you need the expansion.

Action, Fantasy, FPP, Singleplayer.
A first-person shooter which casts the player in the role of a character sent to eternal damnation in hell. In the center, there is an arena where stigmatized souls fight hordes of demons and other devil spawn. The player eliminates subsequent waves of enemies, gains new weaponry and acquires new abilities during his fight for survival. The protagonist dies very often here, for the game is characterized by high difficulty level, thus the player is bound to start over numerous times. The player is given a weapon called the dagger, which is capable of shooting projectiles either in bursts or concentrated. The protagonist's movement was based on classic patterns - the game even features rocket jumps that appeared first in the Quake series. Devil Daggers offers retro visuals, resembling games released in mid 90s. Furthermore, the player can place their scores on the online leaderboards, where one can also view replays of other players' attempts.

Strategy, RPG Elements, Card Games, Board & Card, Roguelike, Singleplayer, Tactics.
A mobile logic game which combines the traits of many genres: roguelike, RPG, board and card game. The game takes place on a two-dimensional board which can be described as a constantly changing labyrinth. The gameplay in Imbroglio starts with the selection of a protagonist from the eight available characters. The player will lead the selected character to combat during which he will use various weapons, special abilities and runes used for upgrading weapons. The battles, which are the major part of the game, are turn based. One of four opponents can stand in player’s way – they differ not only in appearance, but also in the number of health points, damage and special abilities as well. Imbroglio also has the traits of a card game, but the player cannot build his own, universal collection – the card is selected automatically based on the position in the tactical grid where the protagonist is currently located. The key to success lies in developing good tactics and taking advantage of occasions that depend on the momentary layout of the labyrinth.
