Nine Parchments is a cooperative action game developed by the creators of the Trine series. The game takes place in a fable fantasy land and tells the story of young adepts of magic. Instead of spending years on studying at the Astral Academy they decide to embark on a journey to find the titular nine parchments that, according to legends, grant their owners incredible power. The whole game is filled with dark humor. Our heroes gradually learn more powerful spells, but, as they don't care much about safety, their actions very often have devastating results for the third parties. Nine Parchments works like a shooter game in terms of mechanics. The action is presented from an isometric point of view and gameplay focuses on eliminating our enemies with spells. The game's complex magic system is based on five elements: fire, ice, electricity, life, and death, and enables us to create all sorts of spells. Nine Parchments was created as a co-op game for four players.

A spin-off to the popular series from Konami, mixing cooperation-oriented play style with stealth and survival elements. Metal Gear Survive creates an alternative version of the events seen in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros, in which the oil rig housing the self-appointed country has been destroyed by XOF, a ravenous military wing of CIA. As a result of unexpected worm-hole rupturing the sky, the remnants of Militaries Sans Frontieres are teleported to an alternative, bleak dimension, inhabited by zombie-like monsters and scourged by numerous dangers. Our squad traverses post-apocalyptic locations, fighting off enemies using a wide arsenal of weapons, which includes firearms as well as melee weapons and bows. However, this time the players are cut-off from the support of the mother base – we need to gather the scarce resources, and use them to craft new weapons and equipment.

Inspired by such titles as Super Smash Bros., an unusual fighting game with platformer elements. The action takes place in Aether, a war-torn fantasy world in which people from various civilizations can manipulate the elements – Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. The heroes we control try to learn about the roots of the endless conflict, which takes loads of fighting. The gameplay of Rivals of Aether, designed by Dan Fornace, comes down to fighting numerous battles on numerous 2D arenas. During combat, you may not only choose from a wide array of strikes and special skills (each character has three of the latter), but also take advantage of the design of the arenas, which are filled with elements such as walls, platforms, branches, or roofs. Apart from the single-player Story Mode, the game also features many more highlights – the Abyss, in which you face waves of enemies (either single or in co-op) or Versus - its variation consisting of competing with friends. Interestingly, you can play 1v1 or 2v2 via the Internet or in the split-screen mode. The title features old-school 2D pixel art visuals.

The core of the game lies in exploration of unusual surroundings, unraveling its mysteries and rules but also solving numerous puzzles which requires the players to think unconventionally. The game is presented from a first-person perspective and the environment consists of architectonic creations that defy the laws of physics, e.g. never-ending steps or 3D labyrinths. Gravitation isn't always the same here, which means that we can walk not only on ground but also on walls and ceilings. Developed by Tarsier Studios, Statik is a logic puzzle game, which utilizes functionalities offered by PlayStation VR. The game takes players to a mysterious laboratory in which scientists conduct secret experiments to discover the full potential of the human brain. The story begins when the main protagonist wakes up in a hospital bed with his hands trapped in a small device; without seeing his fingers, one cannot say what is inside the electronic box, which perfectly represents how the player feels – with the PlayStation VR headgear on, he cannot see his hands either. All the puzzles in the game build on an interesting mechanic – since a puzzle solution is a mystery, no one knows which button on the controller to press at a given moment. These puzzles are based on player’s intuition and perceptivity, as well as the ability to manipulate the elements of the environment. The pattern of subsequent solutions reflects the process of the player familiarizing themselves with the construction of subsequent devices, which changes with each new puzzle. In the game, the player is accompanied by a doctor, who follows our actions and comments on them, often in a humorous way.

The second one is turn-based combat in which players can use advanced tactics and special abilities and even join the forces of two party members to strengthen an attack. The title is enriched with a myriad of additional activities and minigames, including cooking meals, fishing, and so on.

As always, the expansion includes four new multiplayer maps: Citadel takes place in a medieval castle. Micro is a wacky map, featuring a picnic table, with the players taking control of miniaturized soldiers. Outlaw is a Black Ops II map, Standoff, only remade in a western fashion, while Rupture is a modified location from CoD: World at War, now presented as an advanced research outpost. Salvation DLC is also the conclusion of the cooperative Zombie mini-campaign, in which the protagonists fight for their souls, facing the mysterious Dr. Monty and his army of undead.

A unique production by Size Five Games, featuring an unusual take on soccer but leaving almost nothing of its complex rules. The gameplay of Behold the Kickmen reflects what soccer looks like to someone who has little idea about the sport. You control the players running around the field and their task is to put the ball in between the opponent's goalposts. The game, however, is far from being realistic. Apart from goals, there is also e.g. a special point system, which grades accurate shots based on how far are you from your target. Additionally, some shots can be boosted, which slows time and makes targeting easier. The matches take place on round stadiums, and there are many gameplay options to choose from. The game features cartoonish 2D visuals and humorous character designs.

First major DLC expansion for the fantasy action RPG Dark Souls III, created by From Software studio. When it comes to mechanics, Ashes of Ariandel doesn’t introduce any major changes to the base game, focusing on complex combat system and clashes in which every encountered enemy can be a major hindrance to our hero. The expansion introduces a completely new, snow-covered location – Ariandel – in which we discover further secrets of the game world, taking on a number of new quests and fighting a whole new set of diverse enemies, including the series trademark – powerful bosses. An additional highlight is a special map for PvP encounters, called Hollow Arena. This set of additions is complemented by new weapons, armors, and spells, absent from the base game.

A strategy with roguelike elements, taking place in a post-apocalyptic science-fiction world. In Duskers, the player assumes the role of a drone operator, a survivor from a catastrophe that apparently annihilated every other person and changed the space into a cemetery full of dangerous monsters and other hazards. The player’s task is to discover the secret behind the tragedy and acquire the items necessary for survival. The gameplay focuses on exploring the depths of space using a drone and acquiring resources and parts necessary for upgrading our it. Our course is often crossed by aggressive beings that should rather be avoided, as weapons are a rarity in this game. Other hindrances include decaying drone elements, limited fuel supply and inaccurate sensors, as well as the fact that the loss of the machine results in game over. What’s interesting, the drone is controlled using directional keys, but other commands are issued through a command console. Duskers takes place in a two-dimensional environment, a features rather simple visuals.

An original narrative-driver production developed by the independent studio Everything Unlimited. It is another creation of Davey Wreden, the designer of the popular The Stanley Parable. The game focuses on the story of a complicated relation with a friend known as Coda. He is also a video game developer, and we get to browse the rich library of 134 titles he created. Each of them is a kind of a first-person perspective experience — completing each one takes just a few minutes and what is important: they are devoid of the characteristic elements of video games, such as an ultimate goal or the possibility of failure. The story, which is the main element of The Beginner’s Guide, is based on analysis of human psyche and cannot be unambiguously interpreted. The title is powered by the Source engine, while the gameplay is accompanied by the commentary of Davey Wreden himself, which is an integral part of the complex plot.

A post-apocalyptic role-playing game by TallTech Studio. It is set in a grim world, in which radiation is not the only threat — one has to be wary also of looter gangs and mutated animals. Mechanics-wise, Krai Mira is similar to classic Fallout games. The game utilizes an isometric view, and the feeling of déja vu is only strengthened by the mostly brown color palette. The gameplay focuses on exploring the environment, completing main quests and side quests, as well as fighting enemies in turn-based combat. As the game progresses, the protagonist gains experience points and levels up while gathering better weapons and armor — curiously, you can create a makeshift armor out of an appropriately prepared tire. The visuals are not exactly stunning, but the atmospheric, ambient music is enjoyable.

A mobile RPG with turn-based combat system, developed by an in-house studio of Square Enix. Guardian Codex takes place in the year 2030. The planet was split by a conflict between the Empire and the Resistance. When the second faction is pushed to defense, it decides to use a different tactic and sends their agents to the titular Codex, a virtual version of old times. The player that assumes the role of one of such agents is tasked with finding the legendary creatures known as Guardians and taking them to real world where they can be used against the Empire. The mechanics of the game are typical for classic Japanese RPGs in which the player is exploring, completing quests, speaking with other characters and fighting the enemies in a turn-based system. The combat is important since defeating the Guardians enables the player to make them join his party and the gameplay is focused mostly on collecting and developing them.

A tactical shooter created by the indie developer Downpour Interactive. The game was developed for VR multiplayer matches, where the players use VR goggles and dedicated motion controllers. In Onward, players fight on modern battlefields in different environments, under changing weather conditions, and with the addition of a day-night cycle. Unlike the other first-person shooters on the market, Onward is deprived of many conveniences that are characteristic of the genre: no HUD, no ammo indicator, no crosshair. Additionally, the respawn rate for a single match is strictly limited. Thus, the key to success lies in working out effective tactics, using surroundings to your advantage, and maintaining clear communication between you and your teammates - all of this is a must. Visuals are on a quite satisfying level, and the usage of realistic weapon sound effects is a nice touch.
