An arcade sports game developed by V7 Entertainment, an independent developer responsible for a number of smaller titles. Old Time Hockey offers a retro setting and simple controls – each player is controlled through a convenient control scheme that bases on 2-3 buttons. Moreover, the game’s Beer Mode utilizes a control scheme which requires only one hand, freeing the other one completely. The game offers two basic gameplay modes – Story Mode, which allows the player to lead a chosen team throughout the whole season, and Exhibition Game, a single match that sees us play against either a human player or an AI-controlled opponent. The game is characterized by average visuals and a slightly cartoonish visuals that should appeal to most players.

During the game the player must maintain many things. One of the basic activities is looking for young talents and buying experienced players. To convince them to play in the player’s club, the player must propose attractive terms. Once the team is assembled, the player must set tactics before matches, modify them during the skirmish, replace injured players etc. The skills of players are improved during trainings managed by a hired training team. One of the more interesting features is the possibility to start the season in 1917 and lead the stars from old times. The game is a continuation to a sports title Franchise Hockey Manager 2014. Franchise Hockey Manager 2 was created by Out of the Park Developments - a team known for a series of baseball games. The player becomes the manager of either a player-created hockey team, or another that belongs to one of 21 leagues from all over the world. The player's goals here are to set the lineup and tactics, hire staff members, negotiate contracts with new hockey players, as well as to manage the club's finances. Optionally, the player can place an assistant (such as the main coach) in charge of certain tasks. The game introduces many novelties as compared to its predecessor, including the remodeled tactics system, a system responsible for simulating the fatigue of our players, development and progress evaluation, as well as extensive news section and pre-season matches. Franchise Hockey Manager 2 utilizes a completely new engine as well, which brings both improved visuals and better AI. The Facegen system on the other hand, is at the source of the game's realistic representations of particular hockey players.

Another installment in a series of popular sports games devoted to ice hockey and developed by EA Sports since the middle 90s. In terms of the mechanics, NHL 17 does not bring any significant changes to what the players have experienced before. However, the game brings several novelties and upgrades as usual. The creators mainly enhanced the AI of the goalkeepers, improved the physics affecting the hockey players during close encounters, modified the systems of passes and spins, as well as added several new celebrations. For the first time in the series, the player can take part in world competitions with national teams competing for the victory (International Tournament Mode). The list of gameplay variants available is complemented by modes the fans are already familiar with, such as Draft Champions or Franchise Mode - the latter features an extensive "Be a GM" component. Interestingly, NHL 17 features Arena Creator as well, which allows us to create the ice hockey rink of our dreams.
