The 12th main installment of the Assassin's Creed series - TPP sandboxes, from 2018 representing the RPG action genre. In Ubisoft's game we travel around the open world (which makes the complex parkour system more attractive), we perform various tasks and eliminate hosts of opponents. We gain experience points for our activities and advance to the next levels, thanks to which the combat potential of our character increases with time.

It is an action RPG, epic in scale, set in the Medieval period, specifically during the Hussite Wars (fought in Europe in the first part of 15th century), and powered by the CryEngine 3. The game was created by a Czech game studio Warhorse, which employs creators of the popular Mafia franchise. You assume the role of a young blacksmith who lost everything to the war. While fulfilling his father’s last will, he gets entangled in a plot to rescue the kidnapped king and prevent a brutal conflict.

The sequel was developed by the creators of the original game – Turkish developer TaleWorlds. The story throws you right into the dark Medieval Times, forcing you to adapt to that harsh reality. A standalone expansion to Mount & Blade, a popular game by TaleWorlds Studios, which gained acclaim for being a unique combination of strategy game and action-RPG. The developers responded to community feedback implementing an array of innovations and improvements to enrich the gameplay. First of all, artificial intelligence of commanders and vassals was significantly improved and the diplomacy options were expanded, giving you more control over your lands.

Sengoku Dynasty is a life sim in the Japanese Middle Ages. The player's task is to take care of his family, develop the settlement and fight against the enemies that threaten it. The action takes place in an open world and the game focuses on a realistic representation of the local culture and history.

The second DLC expansion for Mount & Blade: Warband - an action-RPG sandbox game. Viking Conquest is set in Britain and Scandinavia, focusing on the conquests of the titular Vikings. Similar to the previous, "Napoleonic" expansion, the creators were inspired by a fan-made modification Brytenwalda - they improved it with the help of its original creators.

A gruesome, grimdark fantasy RPG inspired by Carpathian legends. Beast was developed by False Prophet and tasks the player with discovering the cause of a plague driving humanity to the brink, while embracing or resisting the protagonist's powerful demonic abilities.

Voor De Kroon is a Dutch indie game bringing to mind the Mount & Blade series. This work of a single developer takes us to the Middle Ages, allowing us to take on the role of a lord on the estate and participate in great battles involving hundreds of soldiers.

The Waylanders is an RPG set in Spain, in two periods that divide several centuries. The player controls a hero who travels in time and tries to discover the causes of the monster invasion. The production combines historical truth with fantastic elements inspired by the mythology of the lands where the plot takes place.

Sequel was released in March 2004 as an action-adventure (hack-and-slash) game. Again, we play the role of Paul de Raque, a knight of the Templar Order, entangled in the eternal struggle against the demonic forces of Hell that attack humanity. The authors reduced the linearity of levels, added a trading option and RPG elements in the form of a character development system.

A Polish open-world first-person cross between an RPG, a strategy game and a life sim. Raubritter has us playing as a medieval knight. It's up to us whether we'll exhibit knightly virtues or be a brigand and a thug.

RPG 20 August 1992

A unique cRPG with isometric view, developed by the experienced Microprose studio. It doesn’t take the players to a typical fantasy world, but is rather set in XV century’s Germany. Authors also tried to adhere to historical facts, such as the growing influence of catholic church or the Inquisition. Darklands doesn’t feature a clear plotline, offering unbounded freedom of playing and fulfilling quests instead.

Gloria Victis was designed as an alternative to many similar Asian MMO games, which usually fail to represent the actual feel of the Medieval period and its socio-economic realities. The game is set on the continent devastated by a long war and crusades, where the leaders of the most powerful nations still fight for dominance. Your character is thrown in the middle of that conflict.

RPG canceled

An online installment in the strategy game series created in 1991 by a gaming industry legend, Sid Meier. It was developed by XL Games, a South Korean studio. The title combines the classic gameplay mechanics of the franchise with solutions typical of the contemporary MMO productions. The players assume control of one of four different cultures that compete against one another in a procedurally generated and constantly changing world.
