A two-dimensional action game with designs resembling old cartoon movies, which is a debut production of StudioMDHR, an independent developer. In Cuphead, we assume the role of a gambling addict that loses his soul to the devil during one of his sessions. To retrieve it, he needs to work off its equivalent. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a 2D fighting game with a degree of platforming elements – we participate in continuous 1v1 fights, taking place on special 2D arenas. During combat we can make use of a wide range of weaponry, as well as several outfits bestowing us with special powers. Each of the enemies has his own fighting style, which needs to be countered in order for us to win. In opposition to the genre classics, our enemies are controlled by dynamic AI, making the game tough to beat and less predictable in case of replays.

An oldschool shooter inspired by arcade classics. Sky Force Reloaded was produced by Polish studio Infinite Dreams, the creators of the two previous installments in the series: Sky Force from 2004 and Sky Force from 2014. In the game the player controls a fighter jet which automatically flies in one direction (towards the top of the screen). Player is tasked with shooting down incoming enemy units and avoiding being hit or crashing into obstacles. It is a good idea to collect various bonuses which provide temporary power-ups and allows you to equip the vehicle with better weapons. In addition to regular enemy aircraft the player will face powerful bosses, encounters with which will require good reflexes and dexterity. Another attraction are the optional missions, during which one must save civilians. These missions are very risky but completing them grants exceptional awards. Sky Force Reloaded offers many varied levels and colorful special effects which enrich the graphics of the game.

Developed by an independent studio called Exor, X-Morph: Defense is an original twin-stick shooter with tower defense elements. The game shows an unpleasant vision of the future, in which the Earth has fallen victim to an alien invasion. Instead of defending the Blue Planet, the player assumes control over an Alien ship with an objective to face waves of human adversaries and defend enormous devices extracting resources and altering the Earth’s atmosphere. In X-Morph: Defense, the player observes the action from the top-down perspective, controls the aforementioned spacecraft, and erects defensive structures such as watchtowers - highly effective against particular adversaries. During the combat, the alien ship can assume four different forms, each one designed for dealing with a specific type of threats. To fight the enemies, the player can use the destroyable environment by e.g. collapsing a skyscraper to bar the way. The player can invade the Earth either alone or with another player in the cooperative mode.

A 3D platformer that came out as a reboot of one of the most popular adventure game series, featuring the titular Sonic the Hedgehog. This production was created by a SEGA’s subsidiary, Sonic Team, employing people who helped create the series and its most important iterations. In terms of gameplay mechanics, the game is set firmly in the franchise's initial premise, allowing you to play as the main hero (or one of his many friends), and traverse a series of locations where your goal is not only to reach the end of a map, but also to do it as quickly as you can. For most of the time, action is presented in third-person perspective, however, the game features also also some classic 2D levels. Each location is filled with traps and opponents, but also various power-ups that can boost your score or protect you from damage.

During the game, you control the Arwing, a space craft that can not only fly, but also transform into a powerful walking machine, offering two vastly different gameplay modes. What makes Star Fox Zero different from the previous parts is the fact that it centers around employing the unique possibilities provided by Wii U and its controller. An unusual hybrid of a shoot'em up and an action RPG. The players are taken to a planet which was torn into pieces as a result of a global cataclysm. Those who survived the catastrophe had to conform to the harsh rule of megacorporations. In opposition to those, smaller and larger tribes emerged, whose members earn their living as mercenaries and smugglers. The protagonist is a smuggler himself, who pilots a combat ship while taking part in air battles, fighting armies belonging to the corporations, and trying to make it out alive. The game is played from a side view, and the experience is based on dynamic action, as the player constantly moves to the right and eliminates everything that stands in their way. The game was divided into randomly generated missions and the player fights different enemies while completing them. Among the adversaries, heavy cruisers are the toughest, because they serve the role of bosses here. To achieve victory, one has to maneuver their ship (it represents one of three classes) effectively, juggle different weapons, attacks and special moves skillfully, as well as to make a good use of the seventy active and passive abilities. Drifting Lands has eye-pleasing visuals, as it offers a colorful, cartoonish graphic style.

A shoot'em up game developed by the independent developer Space Lizard Studio. In the game, the player assumes control of young dragons tasked with fighting an army of hostile robots called Mechaliches, who were able to conquer the protagonists' home planet and kidnap their mother. During the game, the character constantly moves rightwards, eliminates hordes of enemies, and avoids the ever-present obstacles. Of course, one's protégés are not defenseless - they acquire new power-ups allowing them to use machine guns, laser weapons, and cannons. Moreover, as one progresses through the game, they acquire points giving access to various special abilities assigned separately to each weapon. Dragon Bros allows the player to enjoy both single and cooperative local multiplayer modes. Interestingly enough, completed stages of the game can be replayed, e.g. to achieve a higher score - moreover, one can test their skills by playing the game on a higher difficulty level. As the game has been inspired by the classic shoot’em up games, it delivers old-school pixel-art visuals and the dedicated soundtrack written by Gabriel Caruso, who in his works combines modern sound with chiptune music.
