The ninth mainline entry of the Resident Evil series, started in 1996. Resident Evil Requiem offers more psychological horror elements, however it also retains action bits. The main character of the game is Grace Ashcroft (daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft) and she ventures into destroyed Raccoon City.
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main installment of the best-selling survival horror series, started in 1996 by the game Resident Evil. It was developed and published by Capcom.
The game offers a choice of perspective: first-person (FPP) or third-person (TPP). It can be freely switched during gameplay, which is quite significant, as individual scenes look slightly different, depending on the camera we choose.
Unlike most previous installments of the series, which were hardcore survival horrors with a large dose of combat scenes, in Resident Evil Requiem the developers decided to turn towards psychological horror. It is worth noting that the fast-paced action and other elements for which the series is famous for are still here. Nonetheless, unlike Claire Redfield and other protagonists we've had the chance to play as before, Grace Ashcroft does not have much combat experience, which makes her move noticeably slower, and fighting is not her strongest suit.
This makes the gameplay put more emphasis on exploration, avoiding dangers (by sneaking or running away) and solving environmental puzzles combined with collecting items.
The main character of Resident Evil Requiem is Grace Ashcroft. She is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a journalist known from the Resident Evil Outbreak sub-series, who exposed the illegal activities of the Umbrella Corporation. The protagonist, who is an FBI agent, is sent to Raccoon City, which is the epicenter of a biological disaster of global scale, where her mother was murdered eight years earlier.
Resident Evil Requiem uses the RE Engine technology, which is Capcom's engine used in most of its productions. The developers paid attention to the quality of the graphic design, especially to the facial expressions and skin textures, thanks to which we can see details such as drops of sweat.

Resident Evil is a series of Japanese survival horrors published by Capcom. Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara are mainly responsible for its creation. The series started on March 22, 1996, with the release of Resident Evil (also known as Biohazard) on the PlayStation console. It was during its marketing campaign that the term survival horror was coined. The prototype of the series is the game Sweet Home released in 1989, based on the film of the same name. Fujiwara himself was responsible for it, and many elements, such as QTE sequences or inventory management, were transferred to the Biohazard series. Since then, it has grown steadily, gaining more game installments, as well as movie, animation, comic book and novel adaptations.
A preview of Resident Evil Requiem revealed new gameplay details. Depending on the protagonist played, the game is expected to offer experiences familiar from different installments of the series.

Gert Lush Gaming: 10 / 10 by Jim Smale
Capcom proves once again that they understand Nintendo hardware inside out. Resident Evil Requiem delivers slick performance, sharp visuals, and a brilliantly smooth survival-horror ride on Nintendo Switch 2.
Use a Potion: 9.5 / 10
Resident Evil Requiem is the ultimate love letter to a franchise that has spent decades redefining what horror gaming can be, and it proves once and for all that Capcom doesn’t have to choose between terrifying us and empowering us… they can just give us both in one spectacularly gory package. Whether you are holding your breath while hiding from an unstoppable monstrosity as Grace or revving up a chainsaw to carve through a zombie horde as Leon, Resident Evil Requiem is simply f*****g brilliant.
PlayStation Universe: 9.5 / 10 by Michael Harradence
Resident Evil Requiem is a confident, gorgeous-looking and genuinely scary romp that expertly balances its horror and action elements into one compelling, hair-raising package. Grace is one of the best new characters the series has introduced to date, and a perfect complement to veteran zombie slayer Leon. As the series celebrates its 30th anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem sees the franchise at its strongest in years.
