Rustler is an action adventure game that resembles the first two-dimensional parts of the famous Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games - with the difference that it is set in medieval age (suffice to say that the creators themselves call their work Grand Theft Horse). Jutsu Games, a Polish company known for 911 Operator, is responsible for the development and release of this title.

Plot

The player takes on the role of a medieval criminal who tries to earn a living in a feudal society and at the same time not to lose his head under an axe. It is worth noting that the game is in fact a parody - we will not find here credibly reproduced medieval realities. However, there is no shortage of humour and references to pop culture.

  • Nostalgic Gameplay: Rustler successfully captures the feel of classic top-down open-world games like the original GTA titles, appealing to fans of that genre.
  • Engaging Quests: The game offers a variety of ridiculous and entertaining quests, allowing players to engage in chaotic activities such as stealing horses and participating in tournaments.
  • Visual Style: The pixel art graphics are generally well-received, with vibrant environments and amusing animations enhancing the medieval setting.

The main cons of the game

  • Clunky Controls: Many users report that the controls are unresponsive and awkward, particularly when it comes to combat and horse riding, leading to frustrating gameplay experiences.
  • Repetitive Missions: The missions can become monotonous, often involving back-and-forth tasks that lack variety, which can detract from the overall enjoyment.
  • Technical Issues: Players have encountered bugs and AI problems that disrupt gameplay, along with a launcher that opens at startup, which some find unnecessary.
  • Limited Save Options: The absence of manual save or quick save features can lead to frustration, especially when players must restart missions after failing.

  • Multiplayer Mode: There are suggestions for adding multiplayer support, which could increase player engagement and enjoyment.
  • More Diverse Activities: Users mention a lack of variety in side activities and missions, suggesting that the game could include more engaging mini-games or side quests.

Summary

Players recommend trying it on sale, given its charm and comedic value, but caution against expecting a polished experience.
