Sons of Valhalla is an RTS with an RPG elements. It was developed by Pixel Chest, an independent studio, and was published by Hooded Horse.

Plot

Sons of Valhalla takes us to the Viking Age. The main character of the game is Thorald Olavson - the son of a Jarl, enjoying a happy and peaceful life. One day his village is attacked by Jarl Valgard and his men. The invader razes the settlement to the ground, kills the protagonist's father and kidnaps his beloved - Raija - who is transported deep into England. Not thinking too long, Thorald sets off in pursuit. The protagonist wants not only to take revenge, but also to save his beloved, who seems to be extremely important for the English king...

Game mechanics

Sons of Valhalla is a side-scrolling game. We control the protagonist and we take care of expanding our settlement, as well as organizing destructive expeditions and shedding enemy blood. Our own village provides us with a constant supply of resources and warriors, so we have to not only develop it significantly, but also solidly fortify it to ensure its defense.

When our village is secured, we can get on langskips and set off on expeditions, during which we have to plunder and conquer enemy settlements and fortresses. Dynamic clashes take place in real time, and success is ensured not only by issuing the largest possible number of troops supported by siege machines, but also by our own reflexes and dexterity. The protagonist takes an active part in battles, using primarily the sword.

As we progress, we develop the hero and upgrade his troops, so that we can face more and more challenges over time.

Technical aspects

Pixel art graphics of Sons of Valhalla presents a high level. We can enjoy detailed location designs and smooth animations, as well as realistic lighting and particle effects.
