In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you play once again as the main character of the franchise, Link, who gets involved in yet another exciting and dangerous adventure as he tries to learn what led to the downfall of the land of Hyrule. The gameplay is a combination of several genres: adventure, action RPG, and even survival. During the game, you explore the open world, solve puzzles and fight enemies; the combat is arcade-like and requires you to use varied tactics. You also have to gather resources in order to prepare food and drink, which affect your abilities, just like pieces of equipment.

Another installment in the popular Nintendo series about Pokémon, released as a pair of games: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. The action takes place in French-like region Kalos. You assume the role of a young Pokémon trainer traveling through the world in search of new creatures you catch and train for Pokémon League battles. To be successful you need to earn eight Gym Badges by defeating the Battle Arenas’ leaders specialized in different elements. Then, you will have to prove your strength to the so-called Elite Four – the best trainers in Kalos. Game mechanics do not differ significantly from the previous installments. The core aspects of Pokemon X are still world exploration, chatting, and battling others with Pokémon of different abilities and techniques. Pokémon X and Y are the first in the series to utilize fully 3D graphics.

An enhanced port of Mario Kart 8 developed for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reprises a lot of elements known from the two previous installments of the series, such as motorcycles, gliders, the ability to perform somersaults, or underwater racing. However, the developers introduced an interesting novelty – anti-gravity racing, in which we can stick to walls or even to the ceiling. The game doesn’t contain a story-driven single player campaign – we focus on taking part in a series of competitions in which we can race against AI-controlled opponents, as well as other players. Mario Kart 8 contains several multiplayer variants, including online as well as local game modes (split-screen, or a wireless mode for up to eight players). The new edition contains all of the content present in the original game, including released add-ons, at the same introducing new tracks and characters, such as Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones, or Bowser Jr.

Pokemon (2018) is another installment of the extrermely popular jRPG series that was created by Game Freak in the 1990s. It is the first game of the series that was released on home video game consoles. The game's story focuses on a novice pokemon trainer who begins their adventure with a pokemon of their choosing. Our hero explores more and more locations and faces other trainer in order to prove that he/she is the best pokemon trainer in the region. Combat is turn-based. Key to victory lies in skillful usage of our pokemon's attacks and abilities. Each pokemon has its own unique stats, move sets, and abilities that influence its capability in combat. The game has eye-pleasing, cartoonish visuals.

Another installment in the popular third person perspective action series with RPG elements. Since the third game of the series, the franchise is being developed mostly on Nintendo handhelds. Similarly to its predecessors, Monster Hunter X was published by the Capcom company and developed under the supervision of Yasunori Ichinose – the director of the previous portable installments of the series. The game mechanics haven’t changed much, allowing the player to travel through a fantasy world and complete various missions that focus mostly on fighting monsters. A mountain village called Beruna is the player’s base of operations, but during the journey, the player will also find locations known from other Monster Hunter games. Worth mentioning, among the novelties added in the game, are four unique movement sets that are the equivalent of Skill Ranks from Monster Hunter Frontier G8. This system is supplemented by Hunting Techniques based on finishers from Monster Hunter Online.

To prevent it, our protagonist will have to find a forest creature named Skull Kid and recover the ancient Major Mask from his hands.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the third entry in the Xenoblade series. The previous entries were Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii and Xenoblade Chronicles X for Wii U. During the adventure the player assumes the role of a boy named Rex. Together with his friend Pyra he starts an epic journey in search for the mythical Elysium - humanity’s last hope for survival. An action-adventure game featuring RPG elements, set in a fantasy world. It is the second installment (to be released for Wii) in the iconic Nintendo series, The Legend of Zelda. The player assumes the role of Link, who one day finds the eponymous item: a powerful, enchanted weapon with a spirit contained within. When it turns out there is a land beneath the surface of the world he is familiar with, the protagonist sets out on a dangerous journey to discover the reasons as to why both worlds were separated. Moreover, the unknown land is taken over by evil that has to be dealt with. In the game, Link can fight his enemies using several weapons (sword plus shield, bow, slingshot, bombs) and a few special accessories, such as a spy-beetle, or a whip used in puzzle solving. The game stands out with its comprehensive controls, designed for Nunchuck and Wii Remote supported by a MotionPlus device, providing vast possibilities.
