Vampire: The Masquerade (RPG) Video Game Series
A series of RPGs based on the popular tabletop system Vampire: The Masquerade published by White Wolf. Each installment of the series was created by a different development studio. The publishers also changed depending on the production. The first games were released by Activision (now Activision Blizzard), followed by Asmodee Digital, Paradox Interactive and Bigben Interactive.
The first part of the series, titled Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, was released in 2000 on PC, developed by the non-defunct Nihilistic Software Inc. The game tells the story of a veteran of the Crusades, who, drawn into a centuries-old vampire war, sets out to save his beloved. The gameplay differs from the traditional style of Vampire: The Masquerade as it puts emphasis on dynamic combat, which is of secondary importance in the tabletop system. Players have access to a large arsenal of weapons and vampire magic, as well as the ability to recruit NPCs to join their party.
Four years later, we got Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on PC, developed by Troika Games. The production is a continuation of the previous installment and takes us to an alternate version of modern Los Angeles, troubled by the war between seven vampire clans. We can play as a woman or a man, killed and resurrected by one of the bloodsuckers. During the course of the game, we join one of the sides of the conflict, which provides us with certain bonuses and attributes, and then attempt to unravel the mystery of an artifact capable of annihilating the vampire race. Unlike Redemption, the game focuses the story and narrative, rather than combat.
All parts of the Vampire: The Masquerade series are set in the universe of the World of Darkness, created by the White Wolf publishing house. The protagonists of each installment are part of the Cainite, vampires created at the dawn of time by Cain and functioning in the shadows of mortal society. Each vampire possesses superhuman powers and abilities, but the more distant they are genealogically from the protoplast of the species, the weaker they are. Throughout their existence, Cainites must contend with the Beast living inside them, eternally thirsting for blood and taking control of the vampire. Vampires are divided into thirteen clans, characterized by different abilities and politics, fighting a constant battle among themselves for greater influence. In addition, the clans are affiliated with two sects: Camarilla and Sabbat. The goal of the former is to hide the existence of vampires from humans, and the functioning of its members is defined by the six rules of Tradition. Sabat stands in opposition. Its adherents believe that Cainites should rule the world, reject humanity and carry out covert operations that harm the Camarilla.
The first edition of the role-playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade, published by the ISA publishing house, was released in 1991 and told the story of the so-called old World of Darkness. Currently, the game is no longer available for purchase, as it was replaced in 2004 by the guidebook The World of Darkness describing the rules for the new World of Darkness. The universe got many side projects set in it, such as the narrative adventure game Vampire: The Masquerade - We Eat Blood (2017), also known as Vampire: Prelude or Worlds of Darkness: Prelude, a visual novel Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York (2019) from Draw Distance 2019, or Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong produced by Big Bad Wolf.

RPG, Fantasy, FPP, Immersive Sim, Action RPG, Singleplayer, World of Darkness, TPP, Urban Fantasy, Vampires.
The second virtual adaptation of the classic RPG system known as Vampire: The Masquerade. It is a third-person action RPG developed by Troika Games - though not the creators of the first adaptation, they were a team popular mainly for the well-received Arcanum: Of Steamwork and Magick Obscura. VTM: Bloodlines is set in an alternative version of the modern Los Angeles, where seven vampire clans fight each other constantly. The protagonist tries to become an important figure in one such community, making use of unique abilities, such as invisibility, superhuman speed or mind control. As the main character gains experience, these abilities can be additionally developed. The player explores the virtual environment, talks to NPCs and fights enemies. In combat, the player makes use of up to twelve vampiric abilities and a wide variety of conventional weapons. The high-quality visuals were delivered thanks to the Source engine, a technology created by Valve for the purpose of running Half-Life 2.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
June 7, 2000
RPG, Fantasy, Internet, Classic RPG, LAN, Multiplayer, Singleplayer, World of Darkness, TPP, Urban Fantasy, Vampires.
An original, virtual equivalent to a popular tabletop RPG known as Vampire: The Masquerade. The plot is based on the concept of two storylines separated by a period of eight centuries. The player assumes the role of a crusader by the name of Cristof Romuald, who falls in love with Anezka - a nun who has taken care of him. When the woman gets kidnapped, the protagonist discovers that he is only a pawn in an everlasting war between vampire families. Bitten by one such being, the knight struggles to find the beloved woman and save his own soul from eternal damnation. In terms of the mechanics, the game is significantly different from its tabletop predecessor, focusing on fighting with different weapons and using vampire magic - it was only a marginal part of the original Vampire: The Masquerade. On his quest, Cristof meets a variety of NPCs who can join him. Because of the specifics of the genre, each of them is described by a set of statistics, which can be developed when experience is gained.
