Assassin's Creed Nexus is Not Yet Official, and a Sequel is Already Mentioned

Assassin's Creed: Nexus, the VR installment of the popular series, has yet to be officially announced, but Ubisoft is reportedly so confident in its success that it is already planning a sequel.

We have known unofficially for almost a year that Ubisoft is working on a project called Assassin's Creed: Nexus, an installment of the popular series designed for virtual reality. Now rumors have emerged, according to which the publisher is already planning a sequel, although the first part has not even been formally announced yet.

  1. The rumors are credible, as their source is the Insider Gaming website, managed by verified insider Tom Henderson.
  2. According to these reports, Ubisoft originally had an exclusive deal with Meta, but it was abandoned due to cuts in VR budget at the latter company.
  3. Nevertheless, the project is already at such an advanced stage of development that it will most likely be released exclusively on Oculus, at least initially.
  4. Ubisoft is said to be very pleased with how the game presents itself. The company is reportedly so confident in the success of Assassin's Creed: Nexus that it has already begun preparations for a sequel. This sequel would have been created from the beginning with multiple VR platforms in mind.

Recall that according to earlier rumors Assassin's Creed: Nexus is expected to enable us to play as many of the most famous characters from the brand's earlier installments, such as Ezio (AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations), Haytham and Connor (AC3) or Kassandra (AC: Odyssey). The game will supposedly offer a campaign with sixteen missions and several movement modes. Stealth kills are said to require an appropriate flick of the wrist simulating the use of a hidden blade.

It is quite possible that the sequel will feature other celebrities from the series' rich history as playable characters.

For now, there is no word on when we can expect the official announcement of AC Nexus. However, fans of the brand will not be able to complain about a lack of attractions this year, as the release of Assassin's Creed: Mirage is scheduled for 2023.
