Bannerlord Like Crusader Kings; Mod Wins Hearts of Fans

The Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord community has been abuzz about a mod that expands non-combat related aspects of the game, taking the Crusader Kings series as a model.

If you are playing Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord (which, by the way, recently celebrated its second year in Early Access) you try to gain power in kingless Calradia with your sword alone, but you dream of large-scale politics similar to the Crusader Kings series - the Banner Kings mod is what you are looking for. This creation by an internet user known as Basileus Carrasco - made available by NexusMods.com user ThresherMaw - introduces a handful of elements that deepen the non-combat aspects of the game to Bannerlord.

Medieval like a painting

What specifically? It increases the population of villages, castles and cities, expands the ranks granted to characters (including the protagonist) to the level of fief titles, improves and diversifies settlement design and increases our management capabilities. In addition, the modification introduces changes in the law of inheritance, adds four-person councils for lords (chancellor, marshall, steward, spymaster) and the obligation to knight each of our companions before he can enter the ranks of the growing nobility.

Easy installation

Of course, these are not all the interesting options introduced by Banner Kings. The mod, available for about a month now, is systematically developed, and the creator are still planning to add a religion system or the implementation of larger battles. Other plans, as well as a full description of the modification is available here. At the given link you will also find all necessary files and installation instructions.

What is important - the mod does not work with every version of Bannerlord nor with most other fan creations of this type (except for Diplomacy and Improved Garrisons). It does, however, support existing save game files, so there is no need to start from scratch.

CRUSADER BLADE

Also worth mentioning is a paid mod, developed for over a year now, called Crusader Bladewhich enables us to play battles with hundreds of units in Crusader Kings III like huge battles in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. In other words, it combines the best of both games - the management system from CKIII and the combat mechanics from Bannerlord. The basis of the modification remains the Swedish production - the gameplay formula of Crusader Kings III changes only when at the beginning of the battle we choose to join the battle, which is unavailable in unmodified game.

After that, the loading screen transfers us to the battlefield in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. It will vary depending on the parameters that CKIII will send to M&BII (such as the number and type of units, commander and army features or the terrain). The map created in this way will become a battlefield, on which we can freely act. Afterwards, its result will be sent back to Crusader Kings III, where we will direct the further fate of our dynasty.
