It's been almost a decade (two days ago we celebrated the ninth anniversary) since the release of BioShock Infinite and despite the passage of time, the title still manages to arouse the interest of the fans.

Recently we have observed an interesting phenomenon - at the end of the last year, the PC version of the game started receiving regular updates every few days (via SteamDB). The changes began to be introduced in September last year, and began to increase in intensity over time. In March alone BioShock Infinite received more than a dozen patches.

What does BioShock hide?

Due to the influx of updates, speculations have begun to surface as to why the nine-year-old BioShock is being tampered with.

  • The first theory deals with the fact that the game is to receive Steam Deck compatibility update eventually. Currently, Valve's handheld does not offer official support for Irrational Games' title, which was considered quite a faux pas.
  • Some fans are hoping that the updates could herald a next-gen patch or even a remaster, as was the case with GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition.
  • Others cool down the excitement and remind us that all the fuss may be related to patching the publisher's launcher app.

Regardless of what is behind the regular updates for a game from two generations ago, it probably will not remain a secret for long. 2K, however, remains silent for the time being.
