Blizzard Once Again Stops Item Trading in Diablo 4 Due to New-old Exploit

„The miracle” of gold and item multiplication has once again come to Diablo 4. Blizzard has halted the trading option for the duration of fixing the annoying bug.

Diablo 4 has not had a good run lately. Last week, players were greeted by two events: the launch of the second season and the game's appearance on Steam. Both the first and the second were not crushing successes.

Season of Blood did not significantly change the reception of the game, which has achieved rather meager results on the occasion of the Steam launch. As if that wasn't enough, a bug allowing for duplication of gold and items has returned to Diablo 4.

New-old bug

We first learned about the possible abuse of a similar bug in August. At that time, players were able to come into possession of absurd amounts of money, reaching up to billions of gold.

Both the August problem and the current situation are being dealt with similarly by Blizzard - by temporarily shutting down trading. As we can read in the developer's post on the official forum of Diablo 4:

"We have suspended trading in Diablo IV until further notice due to an exploit involving duplicate items and gold. We are working to resolve this issue and will let you know as soon as we restore the ability to trade. We will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a good gaming experience for all.

Any account that engages in gold and item duplication will be dealt with in accordance with our End User License Agreement.

Thank you for reporting this exploit and your patience."

Last time, Blizzard managed to fix the bug in one day. How will it go now? Trading was disabled several hours ago; if the developers maintain the pace from a few months ago, they may still deal with the problem tonight.

However, it is possible that we will wait a little longer this time, because the developers will want to make sure that the problem will not happen again.
