Bungie is Working on New Fantasy IP

Job offers published on Bungie's website suggest that the team is working on an online fantasy game, which will represent a completely new IP.

Bungie has previously developed two parts of the Myth series, so the studio has experience in creating fantasy games. However, the new IP will probably have a much lighter atmosphere.

Job offers are often a great source of information about unannounced projects. The latest example, discovered by TheGamePost, comes from Bungie, which is looking for developers to created an online fantasy game. The project is in the so-called incubation phase, which means that it is at an early stage of development and is not yet handled by a large team.

The information is spread across several offers. One of them is an investment designer. It is known that the game will represent a completely new IP. We can expect a very extensive system of weapons and equipment. The developer is to be the person who will supervise the creation of a large database of items and their distribution systems for players. Swords and "necromancer's dungeons" are mentioned, which suggests that the title is a fantasy game.

Bungie does not intend to abandon the Destiny series. Both brands will be developed at the same time.

The company is also looking for a lead combat designer who is experienced in creating combat mechanics in MMO games with a wide selection of abilities and attacks. In turn, the project's art director is to create a light and humorous visual style.

Of course, this information can only be a feint, but it is worth remembering that at the same time, Bungie intends to further develop the Destiny series. This particular franchise belongs to the genre of science fiction, so it would make sense to bet on fantasy in the case of the second project, as it would distinguish both brands.

It is worth mentioning that Bungie registered a trademark for Matter in January this year, so it is possible that this is the title of the new project. The game is also probably the result of the studio's collaboration with NetEase, which has contributed $100 million to the developer's accounts in order to create additional development teams.
