Call of Duty: Vanguard Announcement May be Coming Soon

More and more reports are pointing to the upcoming announcement of this year's installment of the Call of Duty series. Tom Henderson even gave an approximate date when we should expect the reveal of CoD: Vanguard.

Highlights:
  1. Tom Henderson believes that next month we may get an announcement of the new Call of Duty;
  2. According to the insider it is very likely that CoD: Vanguard / Slipstream will be revealed during an event in Call of Duty: Warzone ahead of gamescom 2021, where we may see more extensive gameplay footage.

For months, insider Tom Henderson claimed that the new Call of Duty will be revealed "mid-year". Now the insider, known for his many reliable reports, clarified that the announcement of CoD: Vanguard (or CoD: Slipstream, because that's the name appearing in leaks) should be expected at the end of August. Henderson gives even a slightly more approximate date: the period between August 18 and August 25.

The insider admits that it's been a while since he's received any new information about when this year's CoD will be announced any time soon. Nonetheless, there's a lot pointing to that eventuality. Vanguard is expected to be released this year, probably in October or November, like most major installments in the series. Activision will definitely not wait until the last minute with the announcement, especially since Electronic Arts has already launched the marketing campaign for Battlefield 2042.

Of course, this isn't proof in itself, but a number of reports seem to confirm that these are Activision's plans. Back in April, dataminer Zesty noted that Warzone developers were back at work on an event labeled "x2" in the game's files, said to include an armored train and "ambushes." The internet user pointed out that a year ago CoD: Black Ops - Cold War was revealed in Warzone as part of an event described in the data as "x1", and suggested that a new game in the series could be announced in the same way. Another, fifth, season of the free-to-play Call of Duty will likely begin shortly after the current one ends, which will be on August 9. It seems likely that Activision may once again reveal the next installment in the series as part of an event leading up to Season 5 in Warzone. This was claimed by Video Games Chronicle, among others.

In the following months, more leaks emerged. In June, placeholder code lines and graphics related to purchase options of a new CoD game were discovered and subsequent reports seemed to confirm that the game is set during World War II. Finally - as Henderson pointed out - organizers of gamescom 2021 have revealed that Activision will be one of the participants of this year's edition of the event. Let's remember that a year ago we first received teasers Black Ops: Cold War in Warzone and a full-fledged trailer showing the gameplay appeared just before the start of gamescom. Perhaps this time the publisher will show the new installment at the fair itself, after revealing it earlier as part of an in-game event. Hence Henderson's speculation that the announcement of Vanguard will appear between August 18 and 25.

As always, we'd like to remind you to be wary of unofficial information, even if it comes from relatively reliable sources. For now, neither Activision nor any of the studios developing the Call of Duty series have not revealed anything about the possible announcement date of the new game.
