Code Vein 2 has been announced. The sequel to 2019's great action RPG looks encouraging in its first trailer.
During today's Summer Game Fest 2025, a game was revealed that will interest fans of action RPGs inspired by the soulslike subgenre. Code Vein 2 has been announced, a continuation of the highly rated entry from 2019, released by Shift studio, responsible for the God Eater series.
Bandai Namco announced the release window as part of their announcement. Code Vein 2 is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
We'll be playing as a Revenant hunter, who are vampires with superhuman powers. This time, though, they will be incredibly powerful - due to the sudden appearance of the Luna Rapacis, they transformed into mindless monsters called Horrors. The player will have to stop the inevitable downfall of the world caused by attacks from dangerous creatures in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Code Vein 2, like the first installment, in terms of gameplay will be heavily inspired by the Dark Souls series. Combat should be challenging, and the key to winning them should be reading the enemy's movements and adjusting the main character's skills and weapon choice on the fly. Interestingly, the game is set to feature a unique mechanic based on obtaining blood from enemies, which will "unlock" extra powers.
We will explore the world of Code Vein 2 together with mighty allies who can fight alongside us or passively boost the protagonist's skills. One of them, for example, is Lou, a girl who has the ability to manipulate time.
