Creator of Cod WWII and Dead Space Leaves Activision

Glen Schofield, one of the co-founders of Sledgehammer Games, announced that he will leave Activision at the end of the year to „try something new.”.

Another veteran of the gaming industry decided to make some changes in his career. Glen Schofield, former Visceral Games studio member and co-founder (with Michael Condrey) of Sledgehammer Games, recently directly employed at Activision, has announced on Twitter that he will cease to be part of the company at the end of the year. The producer decided he won't share the reasons behind his decision. He only stated that he feels "it's time to try something new."

However, if you are hoping for scandals or some dirt, we'll have to disappoint you. In an interview with GameSpot Schofield said that he has a very good opinion about his cooperation with Activision.

Sledgehammer Games was founded in 2009. Initially, it was supposed to work on a TPP action adventure game, which was a spin-off of the cult Call of Duty series. Eventually, the team was engaged in the production of the main games of the cycle. They created two entries on their own – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and the recent Call of Duty: WWII. As Schofield emphasized in his statement, he is extremely proud of both these productions, as well as of Modern Warfare 3, to the creation of which Sledgehammer Games contributed. That's why he thanked Activision for the opportunity to work on these titles, among other things.

After leaving the ranks of Activision, Glen Schofield intends to take a break. Of course, the question arises as to what his next move will be. Will he set up his own, independent studio? Or maybe, like Mike Laidlaw, a former BioWare employee, who recently joined Ubisoft, the developer will move on to another big player in the industry? One thing is certain – he will not give up creating games. In his statement for GameSpot, Schofield revealed that he still has ideas for a few good productions. He just has to think carefully about what he wants to do. Regardless of the decision he makes, the next project by the creator of the first Dead Space and Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2, to just name a few titles, will undoubtedly be closely watched by players and the industry media. Especially since it's supposed to be "exciting."
