Diablo 4 May See Return of Well-liked Upgrade System From Diablo 2

The release of Diablo 4 is approaching. In connection with this, the developers are providing us with more and more - often ambiguous - information about the upcoming game. With this one they made a statement about the runic words known from the second installment.

As the June release of Diablo IV approaches, Blizzard Entertainment regularly heats up the already hot atmosphere of anticipation. This time, the game's lead class designer, Adam Jackson, took part in a meeting with journalists.

In an interview with the editors of PCGamesN this developer was asked about whether Blizzard plans to add the runic word system, well-known from Diablo II, to the upcoming installment. Admittedly, the developer did not answer directly, but in a very enigmatic way suggested that something is up.

"We like runic words, they are very cool. For now we have nothing to announce in terms of whether they will appear in the game in the future, but we think it's a really good idea. That's all I'll say for now," Jackson revealed with a smile.

For those not familiar with Diablo II, we remind that the runic word system is a sequence of appropriately selected characters, which, combined together, enhance the attributes of weapons and the hero. The effect of runes is activated only when they are placed in gem slots.

Finally, it is worth recalling that the next open beta of Diablo IV will begin on May 12. This will be the last chance to check out the game before its release. The launch will take place on June 6, PC, PS4, PS5, XONE and XSX/S.
