Patching of Diablo 4 Begins as Update 1.0.2 Rolls Out [UPDATE #2]

Diablo 4 isn't officially out yet, and it has already received its first update. Although it is tiny, it seems significant.

Update #2

Blizzard has released two more hotfixes to patch 1.0.2 for Diablo 4. The first one, marked "e" fixes a bug that could cause stuttering on high-end configurations, while the second - 1.0.2f - "fixes a flaw that prevented players from successfully completing in-app purchases." Well, now shopping in D4 should be a pure pleasure.

Update #1 (June 5, 2023)

Over the weekend, Blizzard released more fixes as part of the new versions of patch 1.0.2. They include changes to the balance of all five classes. As studio representatives explain: "there is always room for improvement". You can read about the details of updates 1.0.2c and 1.0.2d here.

Original post (June 2, 2023)

Early access debut of Diablo IV proved to be very problematic, at least in the first hours. Console and - to a lesser extent - PC players could not launch the game, and struggled with error 315306, manifesting as a message about the lack of a license. Interestingly, the latter issue could be solved, by making any purchase on Battle.net....

Assurances from Blizzard about a stress-free launch - although the actual one will take place on June 6 at 1:00 a.m. CET - can therefore be put into question. Nevertheless, The devs are not itle and, after dealing with the discovered issues have released the first update. Patch 1.0.2 is small - it introduces just four fixes. However, they seem quite significant, as two character classes have been nerfed:

  1. Flame Shield, the wizard's specialization talent, now requires a cooldown time after being placed in an additional spell slot;
  2. Inner Sight, i.e. the rogue's specialization talent, now has a four-second cooldown - once the effect of temporarily providing infinite energy has passed, the next enemy can only be marked after cooldown;
  3. the effect of reducing the cooldown of battle cries no longer appears on newly acquired items;
  4. increased the number of health points of monsters at higher world ranks / difficulty levels.

Currently Diablo IV can only be played by those who have purchased Deluxe or Ultimate edition of the game. It will be available to the public on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S starting June 6.
