Diablo II: Lord of Destruction to get a fan-made remake on StarCraft II engine

Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is being remade by a fan, based on StarCraft II engine. The modification is going to be available for free for owners of the sci-fi strategy's Starter Edition.

Blizzard Entertainment’s cult hack-and-slash Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is going to receive a fan-made remake based on StarCraft II engine. The Curse of Tristram: Destruction’s End will be a free mod distributed as a series of custom maps available for all owners of any of the StarCraft II trilogy games or the free Starter Edition. Its creator, nicknamed egod123, asks players who would like to revisit the Sanctuary in full 3D for a financial contribution on Patreon.com – if you want to become one of the project’s patrons head over to this address.

The creator assures that he had already completed most of the core systems, so the risk of failure is very low. Now he needs time in order to focus on the work and finish it as soon as possible. Watch the results of his work in the trailer above the news.

A similar modification called Warcraft: Armies of Azeroth debuted in alpha version on Battle.net’s Arcade not so long ago. As you have most probably figured out, it recreates Warcraft III using the StarCraft II engine. The mod’s creators are currently asking for support on Indiegogo.com.
