EA Doesn't Let Go of Star Wars, Wants More Games From the Universe

During the recent investor conference, the CEO of EA - Andrew Wilson - announced that the company wants to create more games set in the universe of Star Wars.

Will there be more games in the universe of Star Wars?

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. EA wants to create more Star Wars games;
  2. The president of the company believes in the potential of the brand.

Electronic Arts wants to get more involved in creating games based on the Star War license. The information appeared in the statement of the company's CEO - Andrew Wilson - during a conference organized for investors (via GameSpot). In his opinion, the success of previous games proves that the brand is still very strong.

"We're going to double down on that partnership. Disney continues to be very very committed to the IP and to the canon. (...) And we've got new generations [of fans] coming to the IP all the time. So our expectation is we think there continues to be a really really strong opportunity in an around that relationship and that IP going forward," said Andrew Wilson.

It's worth recalling that thanks to an 2013 agreement with Disney, EA has the exclusive right to create games using the Star Wars universe. So far, the cooperation resulted in three games : two parts of the shooter Star Wars: Battlefront (both with average score, although for different reasons - in case of the sequel, the problem was primarily the controversial microtransaction system) and the well-received (and best-selling) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

The only officially announced Star Wars game that is currently in production is the star fighter simulator Star Wars Squadrons that EA Motive is currently working on. Additonally, the word behind the scenes is that Respawn Entertainment is already getting ready to work on a sequel to Fallen Order.
