At long last fans can celebrate a new tool for Path of Exile 2 (PoE2). With Path of Building 2 nothing is stopping us from creating the ideal build.
I’m not gonna lie, I was super hyped when I finally launched Path of Exile 2 after waiting so long, but when I saw the skilltree for the first time… let’s just say I wasn’t thrilled about having to make a new spreadsheet. Don’t get me wrong, I love complex game mechanics, but with PoE2, the sheer number of possibilities for your dream build can get a bit overwhelming. But, once again, LocalIdentity came to the rescue and delivered us Path of Building 2.
Path of Building 2 for Path of Exile 2 is an unofficial skill tree and character planning tool that lets us simulate and fine-tune our builds in detail. It was developed by the same team behind the original Path of Building for Path of Exile back in 2014. That tool was created by OpenARL, who kept it running for years before joining Grinding Gear Games. Later, LocalIdentity took over, adding new features and improving calculations. Naturally, players were eagerly awaiting the release of the new tool for Path of Exile 2.
Now, after a few delays, Path of Building 2 is finally here! We can freely experiment with passive tree choices, skill gems, items and gear to test how well a build will work.
Some fans are saying the build simulator isn't just a cool extra, it's a must-have! They think Path of Exile 2 wouldn't be complete without it:
But with the excitement comes some doubt. Other players argue that it’s not worth using right now because it’s still buggy and janky. And while that might be true, the remaining issues should get ironed out over time. Hopefully soon, as I plan to spend the whole coming weekend perfecting my Ranger.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
