First BATTLETECH gameplay is here

A pre-alpha gameplay footage of Harebrained Schemes’ newest IP, BATTLETECH, has just hit the web. It shows the game’s turn-based combat, lets you peek at its visuals, and includes a developer commentary.

Having raised almost $3 million on Kickstarter, Harebrained Schemes is finally ready to show off their next big project – BATTLETECH. A fresh “super pre-alpha” gameplay footage, showcasing one of the campaign missions, lets you get familiar with the game’s turn-based combat – BATTLETECH’s primary feature. Naturally, you can also see what the game actually looks like (although the visuals are still far from being complete), and listen to what the devs have to say about whatever is happening on the screen.

You can watch the gameplay below, just be careful – it had us blown away!

And that’s merely a glimpse of what BATTLETECH will have to offer after it becomes available in 2017. Not only the footage doesn’t feature any elements of the game’s campaign or story, it also misses out on at least a few mechanics-related features, including stability/falling, MechWarriors’ special abilities, reverse movement, damage reporting system, and melee attacks. These will be present when the final product ships. Meanwhile, just to make the waiting a little bit easier, enjoy these brand new screenshots coming straight from the mechanized battlefield.
