Forza Horizon 5 Devs Discuss the Impressive Weather System

Developers from Playground Games discussed the weather system in Forza Horizon 5 and showed new footage from the game.

One of the most interesting announcements of E3 2021 turned out to be Forza Horizon 5, the next installment of the excellent series of racing games by Playground Games. Last night on the brand's official channel on YouTube, a stream with the developers was organized. It was devoted to the game's weather system. The creators discussed the new features and showed a few short fragments of gameplay.

The devs recorded several hundred hours of sky in various locations in Mexico, and then selected the most impressive moments from among this footage to base the graphics elements in FH5 on it. We can expect much more diverse skyscapes. In Forza Horizon 4 when the player selected the weather conditions, the engine matched them with one of about 300 variants of the sky. In the fifth installment there will be more than 2000 variants.

In Forza Horizon 5 the weather will be adjusted to the region and season. Compared to the previous parts, sandstorms and tropical storms are a novelty. Interestingly, they won't appear out of nowhere - players will see them from afar and will be able to play storm chasers.

Forza Horizon 5 is coming to PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on October 9, this year.

Recall that in recent weeks we learned a lot of new information about the game. We got to know the minimum system requirements for the PC version, and the creators informed that the map in the game will be 1.5 times larger than in the fourth installment. Unfortunately, it was also confirmed that the game will not support mods, which is not surprising, because it was the case with earlier parts of the series. In addition, ray tracing will appear only in the ForzaVista photo mode. We won't see this technology during the game.
