Highly-anticipated MMO Throne and Liberty Said to be Delayed Just Before Release

Gamers awaiting the release of the hope of the MMO genre, Throne and Liberty, will have to arm themselves with a little more patience. According to the latest reports, the debut of NCsoft's game has been postponed.

According to the Korean website MNT (via MeinMMO) NCsoft has decided to postpone the release of its long-awaited MMORPG Throne and Liberty to October 2023. Interestingly, originally plans called for the game to hit the market in late May/early June. So why such a move on the part of the developers almost on the eve of the title's release?

According to journalist sources the reason for the delay are primarily two big June launches - Diablo IV and Final Fantasy XVI - with which NCsoft did not want to compete with.

Instead the developers plan to hold closed beta tests of the game in May in South Korea and North America..

However, it is worth noting that these are still unofficial reports. At the time of writing this news, we have not received an official announcement from NCsoft.

Not the first time

However, if the information turns out to be true, this will not be the first postponement of the release of Throne and Liberty. The game was close to debuting already in 2017 as the next installment of the Lineage series. However, the developers decided to switch the game to Unreal Engine 4 and make it a completely separate project. Throne and Liberty first appeared in the news thanks to a very well-received trailer, which was watched by millions of viewers.

Finally, let's recall that thanks to Amazon Games, the title will be distributed in Europe, the Americas and Japan. The game will hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X with crossplay support.
