Hogwarts Legacy Achieved Tremendous Sales Results

Warner Bros.'s latest financial figures leave no doubt, Hogwarts Legacy is a commercial hit, having become the most profitable game in the publisher's portfolio in less than two months.

The fact that Hogwarts Legacy proved to be a hit in the first quarter of 2023 does not need to be proven to anyone. High ratings translated into impressive sales, which surprised even the game's publisher, Warner Bros.

Some light is now shed on the huge scale of the success achieved by the game set in the world created by J.K. Rowling by the latest financial results released by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Dizzying amounts

The U.S. giant's financial results for the first quarter of 2023 show that Hogwarts Legacy generated as much as more than $1 billion in retail revenue in less than two months, while becoming the US publisher's biggest-grossing video game to date.

Interestingly, the excellent sales of Hogwarts Legacy translated into the game providing about 9 percent of the corporation's total revenue in the first quarter of the current year.

Moreover, during a recent investor call, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, reported that the game has already sold more than 15 million copies (via VGC).

It should be noted that the sales figures of Hogwarts Legacy provided in Warner Bros.' financial report do not include releases for last-gen consoles, which debuted today (in addition, a Switch version is on the way). So we can confidently assume that the game will continue to generate huge revenues for the publisher for some time to come.

At the very end, it is worth mentioning that although Hogwarts Legacy proved to be for Warner Bros.' golden egg-laying goose, the corporation itself suffered a sizable loss compared to the 2022 figures.
