Hogwarts Legacy Dominates Game Rankings; Q1 2023 Results
Hogwarts Legacy is selling like hotcakes - it is the most profitable game of 2023 in the UK and the US. However, other figures are equally interesting.
Hogwarts Legacy is selling brilliantly, as confirmed by the latest report by the Newzoo Group for the first quarter of 2023. It is the top-earning title in the US and UK across all desktop platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy has more money than magic
The report for January-March 2023 comes from Newzoo, a game market research firm in the United States and the United Kingdom. The results are interesting:
- the top-earning game for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in Q1 2023 is Hogwarts Legacy. We are not privy to the detailed data, although the report put the game at the top of both lists with a "significant lead."
- the other top-earning games on desktop platforms are Fortnite, FIFA 23 (in the UK) and NBA 2K23 (in the US);
- on Switch, the games that generated the most revenue are Fortnite, Metroid Prime Remastered, Disney Dreamlight Valley (early access) and Mario Kart 8.
Most impressive are the sales of the highly rated Hogwarts Legacy, which despite the fact that it debuted in mid-February 2023 (so it had less time than the January debuts to achieve its score), reached the best results. Recall that the title has move 12 million copies in just two weeks after its release. In the end, the game sold more than 2.5 more copies than Warner Bros. had anticipated.

Hogwarts Legacy debuted on February 10, 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. A dedicated version of the game will premiere tomorrow on PS4 and XONE consoles, and on July 25, this year, on Nintendo Switch.
