PlayStation has announced a State of Play presentation for tomorrow. Here's how to watch and what to expect, everything from Tides of Annihilation to Wolverine.
PlayStation has announced a State of Play presentation for tomorrow. This happens just a few days before the Summer Game Fest showcase on Friday and the Xbox presentation on Sunday. The announcement was shared on social media, giving fans advance notice to tune in on YouTube and Twitch tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4th, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time. PlayStation has also shared some further details on the PlayStation Blog, adding that the presentation will be expected to last over forty minutes.
There is very little we know for sure about what to expect tomorrow. But it will be pretty easy to tune in. Just make sure to jump onto PlayStation’s YouTube page or Twitch channel a few minutes before 2:00 PM Pacific Time, 5:00 PM Eastern Time. You can use the links added here, follow the links PlayStation shared on social media, or just search for PlayStation’s page on either platform.
In terms of what to expect, some fans have a few theories. The number one response to the announcement on social media was an image of a Resident Evil 9 logo, which has been liked by nearly two thousand people. Just below that, someone shared the key art for Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game, which would surely be the highlight of the day. The chances of Wolverine being ready for a trailer this week seem less likely than Resident Evil 9, though.
The critical question is what PlayStation wants to use for this showcase and how much they will want to save for Summer Game Fest. In December, PlayStation announced a remaster of The Last of Us Part 2 on PC and the initial reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet at The Game Awards, another event hosted by Geoff Keighley. So clearly, at least on some level, they are willing to participate. However, if they have decided to put together a State of Play, then they must have something to make it worthwhile.
Ghost of Yotei feels like a good contender for another trailer, given its upcoming release this October. Some fans on social media are also hoping for more information on a game called Tides of Annihilation, which was revealed at a PlayStation showcase earlier this year. Death Stranding 2 is also planned to release this month, though the game’s director, Hideo Kojima, has already been confirmed to be appearing at Summer Game Fest. Bungie’s Marathon is still planned for release in September, despite some recent controversies. If they do decide to stick to that release date, there’s a strong chance it will appear tomorrow. Ultimately, we will have to tune in tomorrow to see what PlayStation has in store.
