Indiana Jones Game Not Dead; Todd Howard Reveals Details

Announced in 2021, the new Indiana Jones game will be a mix of elements from multiple genres, claims Todd Howard. During his appearance in Lex Friedman's podcast the developer also added that ideas for a game in this universe had been going through his head for many years.

The thread of the new game dedicated to the adventures of Indiana Jones has been expanded with new information. Todd Howard, an American game developer working at Bethesda and one of the fathers of the game, answered some questions related to this interesting topic in an interview with Lex Friedman.

Genre mix

Howard stated that the new game will be a "unique combination of genres." The game is to include not only adventure elements - we can expect many diverse mechanics that will make the game experience unique. Howard also added that the game will tell the story of completely new Indiana Jones adventure with an original storyline.

The programmer and designer said that creating this type of game was his long-standing dream. Back in 2009 Todd Howard handed the project of a new game to LucasArts, but at that time, despite good reception, the game was not release.

Work continues

Now, however, the situation is quite different, and Bethesda's designer convinces that the work is progressing as planned. It should be recalled that after Machine Games acquired the license, allowing for the creation of game with the famous hero of adventure films and establishing cooperation with Bethesda, the studio announced a new project in 2021. The actual work had already started more than a year ago. Now all that remains is for us to wait for new details and further materials.
