Migrate character in GTA online and GTA 5. Legacy to Enhanced transfer explained
Many people would like to jump into GTA 5 Enhanced edition however, they are afraid to lose progress. In this guide we will tell you how to transfer it from Legacy.
Right now, thousands of people try to run GTA 5 Enhanced version. It should be a better experience than Legacy, but probably not all people think that way. Especially not those who struggle with migrating their progress from the old version to the new one. If you are one of them, we have prepared a guide for you.

How to migrate your Story Mode Save from GTA 5 Legacy to GTA 5 Enhanced
- Link Rockstar Games Account to PC Account.
- Upload Story Mode Save from Legacy to Rockstar games. You can do that by selecting Pause menu in-game (Legacy), picking Game and uploading the save you wish to transfer.
- Download the save to Enhanced copy via the Landing Page (if you don’t have Story Mode Game Saves on your PC) or Pause menu (if you have Story Mode Game Saves on your PC).
Open GTA 5 Enhanced and pick the Story tab on the Landing Page. If there are any available saves, you should see a notification.
Alternatively open the Pause Menu, select the Game option and Download save. Pick the file you want to play.

While doing the above, you have to remember about a few things:
- You can’t migrate saves between PC and console.
- There is a note in the rules that states: Some Profiles may not be eligible for migration for several reasons, such as account suspensions, account bans, or the Profile having illegitimate or insufficient progress. What does it mean? Theoretically, if you use mods or cheated, the transfer may not be possible.
- You can upload to Rockstar servers only one save but you can update it later to the point of its migration to Enhanced edition.
- After you download successfully the save to Enhanced version, you can’t change it.
How to transfer Online profile from GTA 5 Legacy to Enhanced
As in the case of Story Mode Saves, you can transfer your Online profile via the Landing Page (if you have not played GTA Online Enhanced) or via the Pause Menu (if you have).
- Landing Page - pick Online option. On the Migrate Profile screen select the character you wish to transfer.
- Pause Menu – do the same steps as above.
- Remember that if you decide to create a new character after migration, your old one will be overwritten.
