More MS-DOS Classics Available in Browsers

The Internet Archive has been enhanced by another 2.5 thousand games created several dozen years ago with MS-DOS in mind. All titles can be played for free in our web browser.

Classics from MS-DOS are available for free.

Administrators of Internet Archive informed that 2.5 thousand old games from the era of MS-DOS operating system (preceded the popular Windows), which can be played for free in your browser, appeared on the site. In the extensive catalogue you will find, among others, the platform game Mr. Blobby, educational puzzle game Super Munchers: The Challenge Continues or Street Rod racing game.

The new titles come from a project known as eXoDOS. It is worth noting that all productions are emulated and the process is more complicated than it might seem - these games were often created with a very specific hardware configuration in mind and almost never were thoroughly tested or improved after the release.

Internet Archive warns that titles available on the platform do not always work perfectly - for example, despite the "prehistoric" nature of these games, owners of older computers may encounter performance problems. Often there is also no information about how to properly play the game - not all of them have instructions.

Despite these drawbacks, Internet Archive is an interesting, accessible and completely free way to find out what digital entertainment once looked like in the days of our (grand)fathers.
