For most Diablo 4 players the real fun begins only in the endgame. After all, after completing the campaign, we gain access to many new aspects of gameplay, such as Helltides, during which you can unlock the contents of Tortured Gift Chests.

However, while massacring demons during Tides, you should be on guard. Not only for fear of enemies, but something even more dangerous - a bug that can easily erase a lot of our progress.

Infernal basements

As reported by some players, it is possible to encounter a rather nasty bug during Helltides, through which you lose the currency necessary to open the Tortured Chests (Aberrant Cinders).

It turns out that if there is a cellar in the event area, entering it may cost you the accumulated goods. As one player reports:

"During one of the Helltides I collected about 350 Cinders so I could open a Tortured Chest. I headed to the Southern Wetlands of Fethis and noticed a Cellar (Cursed Cottage) right next to the chest, so I ran into it. I took the Altar, killed some elite enemies, and then opened the small chest that appeared. When I left the basement, I noticed that I had lost 100% of the Cinders. I didn't die, and there were still 30 minutes left until the end of the Tide, so I have no idea how it happened."

Another player on Reddit also shared his observations:

The footage shows that before entering the cavern, user the_plumbus_among_us had accumulated 302 Cinders, which magically evaporated after entering the location. Players in the comments share different experiences: in some cases, players managed to keep their resources, but others admit that the same thing happened to them.

For the time being, the bug remains unfixed. One of Blizzard's representatives in a message to PC Gamer admitted only that the developers are investigating player reports, but have no concrete news at this point.
