Fans of classic city builders have reasons to be happy. The demo of Metropolis 1998 received another update after its creator improved the residents' behavior. Among the most important changes in version v0.8.5 are:
The full list of changes can be found in the official announcement on Steam.
Since the update brings a much bigger map, the dev says that in the future, there might be some restrictions on population or city size. It's definitely meant to ensure the stability of the gameplay, but let's not forget that this is just a demo after all. Currently, however, we can enjoy full freedom in expanding our metropolises.
Metropolis 1998 is a game inspired by classics like SimCity 2000, featuring isometric pixel art graphics and advanced life simulation for the city's residents. In the game, we can design building interiors, manage traffic in real-time, and observe the daily lives of citizens.
The game's early access release is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025. The game is set to remain there for about two years. The developer said that in the future, the game will have new features like money management and city building, more advanced than the current demand logic and terrain height.
