PlayStation 5 Gets Another Firmware Update; Overall Performance Improvement

Sony is rolling out another firmware update for the PS5 - it's now available for download. The description of changes is as extensive and comprehensive as the previous patches.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The new PS5 firmware update number 21.02-04.51.00 improves overall system performance.

Sony has released another firmware patch for the PlayStation 5 console. The update to version 21.02-04.51.00 weighs 872 MB and can now be downloaded here. Of course, the automatic mechanism in the console should download and update the firmware itself. Unfortunately, contrary to announcements, the description of this update reads as follows:

"This system firmware update improves overall system performance."

As above and before, Sony has been describing the set of changes identically for several versions now. The situation is slowly becoming an internet meme. Although it is very good that the PS5 console is getting faster and more reliable.

Maybe at least for a little while?

The work of Sony's engineers is not in vain and PS5 really does become more efficient with each firmware update, as proven by specialists on the YouTube channel of Digital Foundry.
