PlayStation 5 breaks sales records. Information from the UK market shows that Sony's latest console has outbid the great result achieved by PS4 and bested its direct competitor, the Xbox Series X|S.
PlayStation 5 has set a new sales record in the UK. According to VideoGamesChronicle, citing store-related sources, Sony's latest hardware has achieved the best launch of all the consoles in history, beating the Xbox Series X|S (approximately 155,000 consoles sold on launch) at least twice.
The Japanese company can be satisfied with the results achieved in the UK. According to informants, PS5 had a much better launch than PlayStation 4, which found 250,000 buyers in the first 48 hours. Unfortunately we do not know the exact number of PS5 consoles that were sold.
More than 2/3 of the sold consoles are reportedly more the expensive versions with optical drive. Sellers add that the result would have been better if it hadn't been for the very limited availability of the device, which causes prices to rise on auction websites. It can be assumed that for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, every supply that reaches stores will be sold out in an instant.
