Richard Garriott, the creator of the Ultima series, is working on a new project. It will be a online RPG featuring the NFT technology.
Richard Garriott has had some great successes to his credit. He is the creator of, among others. Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness, which was one of the first full-fledged RPG games.
Lord British is also responsible for the creation of Ultima Online, which was the first commercially successful MMO of its kind.
Now Garriott intends to create another game that will go down in history. We are talking about a new MMO, which will use the NFT technology.
Richard Garriott shared his plans with PCGamesN. The creator revealed that together with Todd Porter he is working on a game which will use the aforementioned solutions.
The developer also stated that, according to him, there is no NFT-based game on the market so far, which would be an interesting game standing on its own feet. This is also the reason why the players are so reluctant towards the new technology.
The ambition of both creators is to deliver a decent game, which will be enriched with the possibilities arising from the use of blockchain. It is to be a complete title in itself.
For now, the name of the upcoming game has not been revealed. However, Garriott shared other information.
His new game will resemble a modernized version of Ultima Online. We are talking about an isometric MMORPG set in a colorful fantasy world. The use of NFTs will enable the players to buy pieces of virtual land in the game for themselves.
At the same time, the developer shared concept arts showing sample plots from the fantasy world.

Garriott also assured that his project has already secured appropriate funding. This means it remains to wait for the results of the work of the creator and his team. Perhaps he will once again bring the world a revolution in the gaming industry.
