South Park - New Game and 14 Animated Movies are Being Made

The creators of South Park will be busy for the next six years. In addition to more episodes of the animated series, a new game from the franchise and 14 animated movies are planned.

SOUTH PARK DEVELOPERS ARE WORKING ON:
  • New seasons of the animated series;
  • 14 animated films for Paramount;
  • New South Park game.

There will be another game set in the universe of the cartoon South Park. No details about this project have been given yet. We do not know the genre or the developer - we only know that the game will offer 3D graphics.

The project was revealed when announcing a new agreement, which the creators of the franchise - Trey Parker and Matt Stone - signed with ViacomCBS. The duo will receive over $900 million over the next six years in exchange for new seasons of South Park animated series and as many as fourteen animated movies, which will debut on Paramount's streaming service. The first of them will premiere later this year.

The $900 million figure is one of the highest in TV contract history, but ViacomCBS has good reasons for such a large investment. South Park remains the most popular show aired on Comedy Central channel. For that, the conglomerate needs popular content for Paramount to compete with other streaming giants, and the fourteen animated films will definitely help with that.

The franchise is owned by its creators. This year, Trey Parker and Matt Stone received a $600 million loan from investment firm HP Investment Partner. The deal values the South Park at $1 billion. It's unclear if the upcoming game is being made with money from that loan or ViaomCBS funding.

As you may remember, in recent years we received several interesting titles using this license. In 2014, the RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth by Obsidian Entertainment was released, and three years later we received a sequel (this time developed by Ubisoft's internal studio) titled South Park: The Fractured But Whole. On the other hand, mobile players got South Park: Phone Destroyer.
