Star Wars in Fallout: New Vegas Thanks to Mods

A couple of fans are working on a mod converting Fallout: New Vegas into a Star Wars game. I wonder what Disney will think about it?

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • A giant mod for Fallout: New Vegas was announced, which will take us to the universe of Star Wars from the "very early years of the galactic empire";
  • The Star Wars Open Worlds project is supposed to take us to 12 planets. During our adventure we will encounter many factions and new companions;
  • The mod's creators have not set a release date for the project yet.

Some games are a breeding ground for modders. Now, two modders are working on a project that will turn Fallout: New Vegas into a Star Wars game.

The creators of the mod, Tank_Girl444 and Karim Najib, promise a lot. Star Wars Open Worlds is to take us on a journey through 12 planets of the Star Wars universe. NPCs belonging to many new factions are to be fully voiced. We will also get new companions and crafting system. What's more, the mod is to offer a choice of features of our characters between different alien species.

The mod promises to be very ambitious and may be an interesting departure from the standard gameplay in Fallout New Vegas. I'm afraid that even if the project achieves success (which I wish as a fan of both franchises), Disney may block work on it due to the copyright issues. It's worth recalling what recently happened between Ubisoft and a modder who spent well over a thousand hours recreating maps from GoldenEye 007 in Far Cry 5. In this case, everything turned out well, although I wouldn't be surprised if things were different in the event of a conflict with Disney.

At the moment no release date has been announced for the mod. I'm afraid that the project may end up like other similarly gigantic mods for Obsidian Entertainment's game. Too much ambition often did not meet the actual capabilities of the fan teams and the development of mods was stopped, interrupted or simply did not coincide with the promises of the creators. Who remembers such projects as Fallout Miami or Fallout Cascadia created based on Fallout 4?

However, if the combination of Fallout and Star Wars has won you over, then take a peek at the creator's YouTube channel - they publish there updates of work on their extraordinary mod.
