The blazing flames of Legacy of the Void are bound to keep us warm in the winter.

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void is set for release this winter. It may be in late 2015 or in early 2016 but no later than the 20th of March 2016, as Blizzard Entertainment announced on their official website while simultaneously opening the pre-orders for the new expansion. Those of you who are willing to buy the third chapter before its release will gain some benefits including an instant pass allowing to take part in the game’s beta-tests and an early chance to play through the game’s prologue - the Whispers of Oblivion. The prologue will eventually be made available to everyone (even those who haven’t bought any previous installments of the series) before the release of Legacy of Void.

The game can be preordered in two editions: standard ($39.99) or digital deluxe ($59.99). Additionaly, there will be a third option – the boxed Collector’s edition with no digital release available. Here you can find the complete details concerning them.

Since it’s not polite to keep your loyal fans waiting, to those who buy Legacy of the Void before its release, Blizzard offers instant access to the game’s multiplayer beta and the prologue. Whispers of Oblivion includes three solo missions connecting the game’s story with the Heart of the Swarm. The missions will focus on the Protoss and the dark templar Zeratul. Additionaly, together with the pre-order you will get a new, unspecified character to use in Heroes of the Storm – the Blizzard’s MOBA game starring their various heroes.

Finally, Blizzard declared that the Heart of the Swarm will become a standalone; you don’t have to own the Wings of Liberty anymore. The same is eventually expected to happen with the Legacy of the Void. This decision rejoiced the modding community since they won’t have to buy the whole trilogy just to use the contents of one of the games.
