The Best Half-Time Adds of Super Bowl

The Super Bowl LIII provided another occasion for football fans to watch a large collection of interesting and unique ads. Among the companies that have shown their adds, we will find such brands as Pepsi, Microsoft, Hyundai, or Colgate.

$5.25 million for 30 seconds. According to CNBC, this is how much a company had to pay if it wanted its ad shown during Super Bowl LIII. The amount may make your head spin but due to the popularity of the super Bowl, many companies have little doubts before they decide to spend it. However, buying the airtime is not enough. One has to distinguish themselves samehow, so it has almost become a tradition that during the Super Bowl you can see spots that are funny, crazy and sometimes produced exclusively for this occasion. What did the marketing specialists surprize us with this year? We invite you to a small showcase.

The Best Half-Time Adds of Super Bowl - picture #1
Although Super Bowl LIII has disappointed many as a sports show (only one touchdown during the entire match), at least we had the chance to see some interesting adds. / Zródlo: Steelers Wire - USA Today

Stella Artois

We start with the advertisement of the Stella Artois beer, which has been announced by Jeff Bridges himself two weeks ago. In the teaser, the actor played Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski from the iconic movie Big Lebowski by the Coen brothers. Sarah Jessica Parker also appeared in the spot as Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City.

Pepsi

Pepsi decided to hire the actor Steve Carrel (The Office, Big Short) and rappers Lil Jon and Cardi B, who convince everyone that the well-known sweet, black carbonated drink is "more than OK".

Hyundai

In the Hyundai advertisement prepared for the Super Bowl LIII, we can see Jason Bateman (Ozark, Arrested Development) as an eccentric elevator operator who can go down to the floors representing the greatest fears of his passengers, or take them up, to much more pleasant places.

Microsoft

Microsoft decided to present special Xbox controllers for the disabled during the Super Bowl LIII. In the spot, we can see the story of several children, who were able to play with their friends thanks to the new device.

Olay

The representatives of the cosmetics manufacturer Olay decided to play with the slasher movie formula, convincing us in their latest advertisement that the effect of their products is able to charm even a ruthless murderer.

Budweiser

The Budweiser company has decided on a pro-ecological message, ensuring us that their beer is brewed using renewable energy.

Pringles

Did you know that you can create 380 thousand flavor combinations of Pringles? Unfortunately, not everyone can taste them, as the following advertisement reminds us.

Michelob Ultra

Boy, these machines are an unlucky bunch –they not only cannot taste any Pringles, but they also have to do without the taste of Michelob Ultra beer. Let's hope it’s not enough to make them rebel.

Michelob Ultra Pure Gold

During the Super Bowl LIII, one more product under the Michelob Ultra brand was advertised. This time abandoning futuristic climates and focusing on proximity to nature and ASMR.

Doritos

Does the taste of Doritos makes you want to sing? Because it sure works on the members of Backstreet Boys and Chance The Rapper, as we can seen on the following spot.

Expensify

Another ad from the Super Bowl LIII and another rapper in the main role. This time 2 Chainz praises the Expensify app.

Planters

Do you need a sudden supply of nuts? Relax, Mr. Peanut will provide you with a fresh batch, not only when you are the baseball star Alex Rodriguez. And Charlie Sheen's complaints will not stop him.

Colgate

Colgate toothpaste will prevent you from scaring people away with the smell of your breath, even if you stand right in front of their faces. At least that's what the Super Bowl advertisement says. Starring Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums, 3:10 to Yuma).

Toyota

Toyota decided to motivate us this year. Using the example of the American football player Antoinette "Toni" Harris, the company shows us how important is determination and advertises their hybrid car along the way.

Amazon

What would happen if a virtual assistant Alexa was put into a toothbrush, a dog collar or a space station? The following advertisement by Amazon, starring Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Black Panther) and Harrison Ford (original Star Wars Trilogy, the Indiana Jones movie series) tries to answer this question.

During the half-time of the Super Bowl LIII you could also watch short movie trailers. You can read more about them here.
