After some time of very rare communication, the official Chrono Odyssey X account is lively again. We can read new posts almost every day. One of them is particularly interesting.

At this point we don’t know any details, but it is definitely an exciting news. The previous playtest was in February, however, it was a private Focus Group Test. It seems that developers have learnt a thing or two from it, though, and are ready for the next step.

To be honest, it is the best time for that. In one of the recent posts, creators have hinted that they want to release Chrono Odyssey this year (watch the attached movie till the end). Up until now, the game has not been widely advertised. However, as we know from the experience of other productions, a good playtest can help to grab at least initial attention of players. At the same time, it can confirm that the game is of high quality, as some players doubt it.

Concerns regarding Chrono Odyssey

When we look at comments on Reddit, it is evident that some players are quite suspicious of Chrono Odyssey. We can’t blame them. The game seems to look too good to be true. We can see some really high-quality visuals in the gameplay trailer.

However, the latest video on the official YouTube channel is already over 1 year old (the trailer presented above is 2 years old). Moreover, until recently, developers were rarely posting on X, too. Of course, focusing on the job is a good thing. Nevertheless, in the case of a studio with a clean history, it can be seen by many as something suspicious.

However, let’s remember that Chrono Studio is supported by a publisher. It may be reassuring, as we know that Kakao Games is a true company with successful games in its portfolio. However, some players may be a little bit nervous, as its most popular title is a mobile game called Guardian Tales. Moreover, at the same time Kakao Games is a publisher for another upcoming MMORPG, ArcheAge Chronicles.

Many believe that World of Warcraft can’t be beaten. It is a king of MMORPGs, which still gathers numerous fans, despite it being over 20 years from its release. However, we can’t blame those people who are looking for something more modern and prettier. That’s why so many players gave New World or Throne and Liberty a chance. And we have to admit that both games were quite hits… at least initially. Numerous online games have found out that it’s easy to attract new players at the beginning, but it is much harder to convince them to stay. Will it be true in the case of Chrono Odyssey? Time will tell. However, with so many doubts, it is clear that a playtest will definitely be helpful not only for the developers, but also for publicity and some worried players.
