I'm absolutely delighted to share some great news with everyone who's been eagerly waiting for updates on Witchbrook. The game was first announced back in 2017, and it's been a long wait with not many updates over the past year – still just a vague "releasing soon" on its Steam page. But now, thanks to Nintendo Direct, we finally have a release window – Witchbrook is coming in Holiday 2025! Looks like my end of December is sorted.

A magical academy adventure awaits

Witchbrook is officially coming to Nintendo Switch (and probably to Switch 2 as well) at the end of the year, and it's likely to launch on PC on the same date. As for the other consoles, we’re not totally sure yet.

Not much time left until we can finally start our school year at a magical academy in Mossport. From brewing powerful potions and competing for the top spot in class to taking part in mysterious rituals, there's a lot to look forward to. And of course, plenty of quirky, colorful characters to date.

Our home will be a cozy woodland cottage with a garden, and we can even start a business to help locals and fund our studies with the profits. The game will support up to 4 players for some online co-op fun.

If Chucklefish, the studio behind Witchbrook, sounds familiar, it’s because they published Stardew Valley, though they didn’t actually develop it. You can definitely see some inspiration from Eric Barone’s masterpiece, but Witchbrook has its own vibe and setting, and I think it’ll stand out on its own. Kind of like Haunted Chocolatier, it’s going to offer a totally different experience compared to the usual farm sims we know.

I’m really hoping Witchbrook breaks the trend and doesn’t get delayed like Sand did, just pushed back at the last minute, or Vampire: Bloodlines 2, which is now set for October 2025. Fable is now slated for 2026, and if you were planning to relax in the Shire in Match, even the Hobbit game got postponed.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
