The World and People of Cyberpunk 2077 on New Images

Materials from the book The World of Cyberpunk 2077 have appeared on the web. They include a complete map of Cyberpunk 2077 and images showing locations, advertisements and residents of the Night City.

Scans from The World of Cyberpunk 2077 can already be found online.

Cyberpunk 2077 is still a few months away (and hopefully not more). But before that we will receive something that will make waiting for the game more pleasant. We are talking about a book containing the most important information about the game world together with illustrations showing it. Apparently, some people received their copies of The World of Cyberpunk 2077 a bit earlier and were eager to boast on on Twitter.

The lucky ones are the buyers of the German edition, which debuted a bit before the English one. However, we will probably soon hear about the delivery of English language copies of the book. "Probably", because although the official website of the Dark Horse publishing house gives the release date as July 29, there are conflicting reports on the web. Some have just yesterday received a notification from Amazon (including the UK branch of the store) that their copy of The World of Cyberpunk 2077 will be delivered soon. However, others report that they will not see their copies until August, and in some cases Amazon has removed the information about the expected delivery date.

World of Cyberpunk 2077

Apart from the turmoil with the release date, the lucky owners of The World of Cyberpunk 2077 shared a handful of materials from the book. These include a somewhat complete map of the world by districts, provided by Kalenko on Twitter (via Reddit). Earlier, we had to settle for a fan project based on an incomplete illustration, which, as it turns out, did not fully correspond to actual situation. Also the book does not offer a picture with the whole map on one page. However, user AVPejavar from Reddit put together parts of the image - you can see the effect below.

The basic shape of locations does not differ from the map put together by the fan (after all, it was based on official materials), although there are some differences. For example, the Northside Industral District does not go that far north, while the West Wind Estate goes much further south. We point out that this is a very general map, without minor streets etc. If we prefer much more detailed landscapes, Kalenko has also included a handful of images showing the world of Cyberpunk 2077, including Japantown, North Oak, Vista Del Ray and Kabuki. The images show also a luxury apartment, Arasaka Corporation building, etc. If that's still not enough, CD Projekt RED still posts entries on the game's locations, including the last one on Badlands.

Cyberpunk vehicles

Only the richest citizens of Night City can afford such a car (source: Twitter).

The book shows not only the locations - we can also see our means of visiting them. The World of Cyberpunk 2077 lists the brands of cars used in Night City: from the luxurious Herrera and Rayfield, through middle-class Archer, Mizutani, etc., to much weaker models from Mahir Motos and Makigai. In addition, we see two companies specializing in motorcycles (Yaiba and Brennan). You can see their logos below.

Brand names are one thing, but the book also includes images showing selected cars. They include a high-class model from Herrera and its interior, which we can compare with the more budget solutions from Archer and Thorton.

The heroes of Night City

So we know what to expect from The World of Cyberpunk 2077, but what does the book tell us about the people of Night City? Quite a lot, although for now we have to limit ourselves to a few images provided by Kalenko. In the pictures we see for example Aldecaldos, representatives of nomadic Nomads, and members of two gangs: Wraiths and Tiger Claws. Ironically, a poster depicting a "typical" Night City family - at least according to arms manufacturers - is probably more disturbing.

Apart from these de facto nameless residents, The World of Cyberpunk 2077 also contains images of important Night City characters. There is even a painting depicting Richard Night, the tragically deceased founder of the city. However, players may be more interested in the two heroines that we are sure to meet in Cyberpunk 2077, the first of whom is Judy Alvarez, leader of the Mox gang, and a braindance specialist that we saw in the latestshow of the game and the trailer. The second is Rogue, owner of the Afterlife bar, but also one of the best fixers (dealing, in short, with smuggling and selling information) in Night City.

Waiting for Cyberpunk 2077

But wait, there's more. Kalenko has also posted a number of other images depicting locations, advertising posters, armaments, mechanized army etc. Let's hope that soon The World of Cyberpunk 2077 will reach more people, and that they will share further materials from the book. After all, we have to kill the time remaining until the game's release somehow. Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on November 19 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the developers have also confirmed the release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X once these platforms are available.
