Ubisoft on Prices of PS5 and Xbox Series X Games

Ubisoft has announced that their latest games will keep their price ($60) - or at least for now. We also received an announcement of the next part of the Ubisoft Forward event.

Ubisoft reacts to price increases of other developers.

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about price increase for next-gen games. 2K was the first to announce this, informing that the latest installment of the NBA 2K series will be $10 more expensive on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The CEO of IDG Consulting also spoke about the phenomenon itself, saying that game price increases are inevitable, given the rising development costs. Ubisoft was next to take the floor.

According to Jason Schreier, the French publisher will maintain the current price of games ($60) - but not for long. When asked by journalists about the amount we will pay for next-gen productions that will launch in the fall, Ubisoft representative said:

"We are concentrating on the Christmas releases. We have decided those games will be launched at $60"

What could that mean? Probably it means that after this period, the prices of games from the French studio may increase, but we will have to wait for official information. However, it's worth recalling that the current price of the games has been with us for 15 years (since the release of Xbox 360), when the cost has changed from $50 to $60.

Ubisoft Forward - we know the date of the next event

The next part of Ubisoft Forward was announced.

The next part of the Ubisoft Forward conference has also been announced. The event is scheduled for September, unfortunately without a precise date. Ubisoft's CEO - Yves Guillemot - announced that we will see "much more", while the studio's spokesman announced that the next conference will include "game news and updates".

Let us recall that the last Ubisoft Forward conference took place on July 12, 2020. We could see there, among others, gameplays from Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion and the announcement of Far Cry 6. You can watch the summary of the conference here.
