Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, a remake of one of the most important games in the history of the RPG genre, has been released.
The RPG Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord has debuted in early access. It is a remake of the first installment of this classic series, released in 1981 for the Apple II computer.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is one of the most important games in the history of the RPG genre.
In 1981 it was a revolutionary game, as it was the first to introduce parties as we know them to the RPG genre. The project's port to Japanese computers and consoles proved so popular that it is considered one of the main inspirations for such series as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
As a result today the Wizardry brand is much more popular in the Land of the Rising Sun than in Western markets. In total, the Japanese have produced as many as 39 different games from the brand, of which only five have lived to see English-language versions.
The remake faithfully reproduces the content of the original. The devs prepared a new graphic design and introduced many improvements to the gameplay and interface, but the rules of play are identical to what the players received in 1981.
So we get the same high level of difficulty as in the original, but elements such as combat, spell casting and party management are much more convenient. Nevertheless for purists there is an option to play with the old interface..
Finally, it is worth mentioning the system requirements of the game
