Xbox's Anniversary Stream Will be Worthwile, Claims Insider

Microsoft reportedly won't be announcing any new games during the Xbox Anniversary Celebration broadcast, but according to an insider it will definitely be worth watching.

This year, Microsoft is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox platform, as well as the related Halo series. So far, the celebrations have been limited to free gifts (not just digital) and (not really related) mysterious announcement in May. On November 15, the Xbox Anniversary Celebration broadcast will begin at 10:00 AM PT. The event will be available to watch on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.

Aaron Greenberg (Xbox Marketing Director) emphasized on Twitter that the Xbox Anniversary Celebration will not be a typical game show event and we should not expect any new titles or information on upcoming games. However, a little earlier Windows Central's Jez Corden had heard from a "trusted" source that it would definitely be worth watching. He provided the information during The Xbox Two podcast.

The journalist took this to mean that some important announcement would be made during the event. Even if this revelation is credible, we have absolutely no clue as to what the announcement could be about. Yes, it could be related to a "new game" that was mentioned as soon as the Xbox 20th Anniversary celebrations began. The thing is, a month ago Microsoft denied that the Xbox Anniversary Celebration would include any new titles.

It's possible, in fact, that the matter is linked to a recent discovery. Last month, internet users noticed that a handful of Xbox 360 games had been added to Microsoft's store database, with titles including Dead or Alive 3, The First Templar and Advent Rising being spotted by True Achievements, among others. Interestingly, they all had a release date set for November 30, 2021. So one can speculate that Microsoft is planning on adding more titles to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One's backward compatibility catalog.

This is just speculation and it's just as well that these moves in the database could be a simple test, unrelated to any major announcement from the company. Best not put blind trust om any of these rumors and speculation and wait for the Xbox Anniversary Celebration broadcast.
