Xbox Series X Test Update Introduces 4K Interface

Xbox Series X has received a test system update. Alpha Skip 2109.210813-2200 adds support for high-resolution interface.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. The test version of the Xbox Series X's firmware adds interface rendered in high resolution.

Microsoft released a new Xbox Series X system update for testers. The Alpha Skip 2109.210813-2200 release introduces the long-awaited feature of displaying the console's interface in high resolution.

Until now, menus were rendered in 1080p, which Microsoft representatives explained was due to a desire to save console resources. We don't know if the software has been optimised, or if the devs simply changed their minds on the matter. The resolution at which the interface is rendered also remains a mystery. Microsoft's blog post never once explicitly mentions native 4K.

The previous update enabled us to test the night mode, which is designed to save our eyesight in the evening hours, by reducing blue light emission by slightly changing the color palette of the image displayed. Those who signed up for the Insider program can expect more news in the near future, as Microsoft has a good pace of releasing new patches.
