You can join The Harpers in Baldur’s Gate 3, but getting Jaheira’s offer isn’t that easy. Only a small fraction of players have managed to do it

The path to becoming part of The Harpers in BG3 is well hidden and requires quite a sacrifice. You’ll need to make some tough choices to unlock it.

There are so many different paths and choices in Baldur’s Gate 3 that some outcomes are completely unexpected. Some dialogue options, and even companions, are so rare that people are still discovering them years after the game came out. Like with joining the Harpers, the way to get that invite isn’t something most players will come across easily.

How to join The Harpers in Baldur’s Gate 3

Not many BG3 players realize you can actually become a member of the legendary Harpers. Sure, you can get Jaheira, one of their key members, to join your party, but the game never gives you a straightforward quest to officially sign up. It’s all way more subtle, and it only comes together in the epilogue. Keep in mind, this alternate ending wasn’t available when the game first came out; it was most likely added in Patch 5.

Thebirdsarecumin shared on Reddit, while playing as a Dark Urge character, that Jaheira invited them to join The Harpers, but only under certain conditions. You need to be on the resisting path and not be in a romantic relationship.

This special dialogue with Jaheira happens in your camp after the final battle with the Netherbrain. After the usual greetings, she starts talking about rebuilding the city. If you pick the dialogue option “The Bhaal Temple still stands through the carnage…”, she’ll bring up the Harpers and mention her kids. Next, ask Jaheira what she’s been up to, and a unique dialogue option may appear:

Let me lend my hand – I want to join the Harpers, if you will have me.

That said, there’s still some conflicting information on how exactly to trigger this scene. One thing’s clear: you don’t have to be playing as Dark Urge to get the invite, regular Tavs can get it too. As for the romance condition, that’s not that clear after all. Some players say that you can romance a companion, but you’ll need to break things off with them before the epilogue starts. If you stay in a relationship, this special dialogue with Jaheira gets blocked, and you’ll get different options instead, one of which is about how “home is where your partner is.”

One key condition to unlock the unique dialogue is that Jaheira must stay with the Harpers. If she leaves, she changes from her green outfit to a blue one. This can happen if you fail to save Minsc in The High Harper quest or if they fall out after joining your party. When they argue, you have to step in and try to convince Minsc to trust Jaheira. If you don’t help Minsc see Jaheira’s side, she retires from the organization.

This ending is probably pretty uncommon since most players end up in a relationship in Baldur’s Gate 3. It might be even harder to get than the rarest achievement, which only about 2% of players have. But if you needed an excuse for another playthrough, here it is. Now you can go for an almost invincible character or just create a classic (and my favorite) Dragonborn – just don’t forget there’s an option in character creation that most people tend to overlook.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
