Gran Turismo Sport without microtransactions

In case you've been wondering, no, Gran Turismo Sport is not going to include microtransactions. That's certainly good news for all who complained about paid credit packs in Gran Turismo 6.

Unlike the previous entry in the popular racing simulator franchise, Gran Turismo Sport will include no microtransactions whatsoever. Thatís what Kazunori Yamauchi, the CEO at Polyphony Digital, said when asked about the matter at the PlayStation Experience 2017 event in Malaysia. The seriesí creator has also confirmed online updates and DLC with new cars and tracks. Gran Turismo Sport is going to launch as a PlayStation 4 exclusive on October 17, 2017.

Gran Turismo 6 would let the players purchase credit packs for real money via PlayStation Store. Although completely optional, some fans found that controversial, especially due to the gameís competitive character. That way some well-off players could get the best cars and upgrades before others.

Although microtranasctions are becoming more and more prominent in AAA games (see Middle-earth: Shadow of War or a couple of recent Assassinís Creed games), the players still tend to protest against that practice and, as the example of Gran Turismo Sports shows, are sometimes heard by the developers.
